No, it really isn't.
Yes it it though. He is the face of the company, and he donates to causes that are against gay marriage. CFA doing well and making money means he makes more money and he can further his beliefs monetarily. Are you going to tell me thats irrelevant just bc CFA doesn't have an official "anti-gay marriage" platform?

Chick fil A, as a company, does not discriminate. Sandwiches themselves are incapable of discrimination.
The only problem is thoughts expressed by one guy. There is no discrimination.
Yes they do. Their statements would make any rational gay person feel that they would not be welcome or considered as being accepted as normal within that company.

So you're backing down from your previous position? Good. At least you're not a total dumb arse.

Along with any straight person that has or has had sex outside of marriage. IOW 90% of the country.

Did they refuse to serve gays? Did they refuse to employ gays?

Obviously not. Seems those who claim to value inclusiveness, open mindedness and diversity are have the quickest trigger finger.

Or otherwise, he donates to groups with religious agendas. See...I can spin that too.
CFA is up front about who they are. They are a company that is rooted in the values of Christianity. The fact that they are closed on Sundays should have clued you into that.

quote:Pretty standard boycott. Of course within your rights, and if anyone wanted to lend support to the boycott/protest or criticize it, that's within their rights as well. To me, how appropriate the boycott is would depend on the particular circumstances. If the guy is actively discriminating in hiring and service, then I'd support it. If he just said racist things and nothing else, I don't get what the endgame is. Are you gonna bankrupt him into not being racist anymore? You're only attacking thoughts.
If a local business owner professes to being a total racist, am I being intolerant or prejudice if I spread the word to all my friends to avoid his business and not give him any of your money? I know this isn't a perfect analogy, but I think you get my overall point.
Either way, it's all within your rights. And my criticism or support is within my right. And no matter what, even if you really are morally superior, you're taking a stand. When you take this kind of stand for other people (children in fact), force it on them in a public setting, now you've got fascism.

90% of people have sex outside of their marriage? Maybe in your house.

A black business owner is openly racist to whites. He is known to donate big time money to the Sharptons, Jesse, Obama, and Holders of the world. That won't matter at all to you when deciding where to eat on a Saturday afternoon?

You can be mad about it but your logic is weak. There are plenty of groups that deserve to be excluded. CFA probably isn't one of then, but their stances make some people mad.
What's illogical about thinking its absurd to ban a chicken sandwich from a school event simply because the CEO of that company believes in traditional marriages?

Is he refusing me service? If not, and if the place he runs has damned good food, I will frequent his place of business.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. I guess they should ban all products who's corporate heads donate to causes we disagree and make the decision for all instead of letting kids have choice.
The proper thing would be let kids decide whether to support with their dollar vote.

Having sex outside of marriage means having sex when you're not married, not having extramarital sex.

But how you know there is "nothing else" is the issue here. If someone says extremely racist, hateful remarks towards a group of people, I think its reasonable to have some skepticism whether he also treats the same people with the utmost level of fairness and respect when no one is watching. Do you disagree?
But again, whether its within my rights wasn't my question in my previous post--of course it is . My question is, am I being prejudice and/or bigoted if I tell all my friends to avoid this racist's business, like you insinuated in one of your prior posts?

It is illegal to discriminate in your hiring practices so they can't blatantly say they won't hire you if you are gay so they came out and said the next best thing. Honestly, if you are gay and looking to move up the ranks within a company, you will avoid Chick-fil-a. They have successfully discriminated against gays. Sorry if the subtleties of the real world elude you but thats just how things work nowadays
