That's not his point.

The last gen were able to last a long time because we weren't on the verge of anything like 4K and the last gen was able to add HDMI and HD no problems.

Will 4K lesson the lifespan of this gen? Maybe not but it should.

It won't have an impact until 4k TVs are reasonably priced IMO. I wouldn't mind having a 4k TV, but what am I going to watch to justify the purchase? My 720p Comcast feed?

Tons of people (myself included) still have a 720p TV. The only thing I hate about my 720p Plasma is that it only has two HDMI ports. Even when I buy a new TV, I doubt I'll get 4K.

It'll be years before that catches on as mainstream, and right now, even if you have a cheap 4K TV, it takes a lot of power to run modern games with that resolution.
