But seriously I mean confusing for society in general. It just makes things much simpler.
Obviously just poking fun, but I am not sure most of society is confused. If they are then my comments apply to them as well.

I know, no offense taken; its just that calling traditional marriage supporters possibly gay has become the default retort there.

I don't understand. I'm a heterosexual male that loves women. I married a sororitute (but that's another story). I don't want to marry a man. I have gay friends. They live their own lives and have their own loves. Who am I to deny that? How does that affect my life? And don't tell me the family unit yada yada yada. When Newt Gingrich was divorcing his 3rd wife did that affect the family unit? When JFK and RFK were tagging everything in sight did that affect the family unit?

You know the counter to that is being gay is a lifestyle choice.

Look I don't know for sure if that's true or not, but like Phil says, all I know is that, as a man, the only thing that makes sense sexually, romantically, and eventually marriage-wise is to be with a woman.

Plus, it's just obvious by looking at male and female genitalia and studying the reproductive process that men were meant to be with women and vice versa.

All people are not born the same. I don't understand why that is so hard to comprehend. People are born with birth defects, abnormalities, etc every single day. Can you explain why people favor one hand over the other? Is something wrong with being born left-handed? Why can't they just be like most everyone else and be right-handed?

If you are trying to rationalize that you should marry a woman by studying male and female organs then we may be back to the "confused" discussion, only seriously this time.

Huntsman is a sell out. He governed conservatively in Utah and lost in mind running for president in 2012.

I'm shocked that someone as narrow-minded as Phil Robertson can't comprehend another POV other than his own.

Huntsman didn't exactly go out on a limb there. Of course gay marriage is inevitable in every state. Thanks Captain Obvious for that nugget of insight.

The problem, Mickey, is that this can be extrapolated to areas outside of this - crushing the analogy.

Some people are born psychotic, correct? Or at least with all the structures in place - so, we can't say that's just okay, now can we?

If we assume - for the sake of argument that a majority of reasonable people are to the point where they can accept homosexual relationships between 2 consenting adults - a more or less libertarian stance on it, regardless of core political persuasion. Fine. I just didn't see the need to tear down all barriers to stretch and expand to call these unions "marriages" - heck, there's nothing special about many heterosexual marriages for that matter, but they at least have the weight of tradition and status as foundation of Western civiliation (to deny this is to lose credibility).

So, what would have been the harm to hold the line at civil unions (again, with no homosexual context - civil unions could/should be available to anyone outside the traditional definition of marriage, to afford grown folks the freedom to arrange their affairs in ways they see fit - no solution or arrangement is right for everyone, but civil unions - for that briefest of moments had the potential to solve a number of problems, not just the quandry over formalizing homosexual relationships).

But - no - we couldn't do that. The collective decision was made that if we didn't allow gays to marry, then, somehow, we were saying their relationships were inferior - well I took issue with that - the relationship itself is the best evidence of the quality of it and the individuals in it.

So, here we are - now we will have to face the inevitibility of polygamy and (consensual) incestuous marriage - again - how can we say one particular type of unconventional (yet consensual among adults) relationship is okay, while others are not.

I'm not going to play the pedophile or bestiality cards because they're not fair to homosexuals and equate homosexuality to some sort of inhuman indecency - I'm not doing that.

However, it begs the question - what's the difference, in the grand scheme of things, in an incestuous marriage (between genetically healthy relatives) or polygamous marriage (among truly consenting adults - not coerced or "arranged") and what we are doing now with the faster-than-gradual normalizing of gay marriage?

Didn't read all that. However, conditions that are inherently destructive and/or harm others (psychotic, pedohilia etc.) are not the same as being gay and being attracted toward the same sex. This doesn't "crush the analogy" as you put it. Nobody said you must accept and agree with every single human condition, even those that are harmful. Being gay is as harmful to others as being left-handed is.

ETA: At the core of a libertarian argument would be to allow both adult incestuous marriage and polygamous marriage. Those consenting adults are not affecting anyone else.

Knew what?

I always have supported gay marriage.

I also am totally against marriage do to the fricked up justice system. Any male who enters into a current male/female marriage is playing with fire.

This is the first opportunity I can see where I can reasonably begin to exploit the system our benevolent fedgov has established to promote marriage through tax breaks, etc.
