If not, then WTF is your point?
My point is I'm not surprised someone that didn't like Bush compared him to Hitler. Obama's been compared to him by people that don't like him, Clinton was compared to him by people that didn't like him.
Is it any more dangerous for a teacher with an audience of maybe 20-30 students to do it, than say a radio personality with an audience of thousands or millions?
It's a stupid comparison trotted out by stupid people, but this country is full of stupid people so it doesn't surprise me.

Yes.
The fact you dont see the difference is astounding.

How so?
And explain it without using the word "indoctrination", if you could.

You might consider the difference between a captive audience of children and some yahoo freely choosing to tune into an AM radio station.

Hopefully, you will admit that children that age are very impressionable. Most of them probably believe the moon is made out of cheese if that is what they have been told.
This is no more a good subject for debate at this age anymore than sex ed is. There is a time and place for most anything. This isn't one of them.

But I agree that the Bush Hitler exercise or really any personal opinion expressed as fact does not belong in the classroom.

I'm confused, because I went to La public schools I guess. Too bad we didn't have Common Core back then.

Children are required to go to school, and must listen to the teacher.
You are not forced to turn on the radio and listen to a certain station.
Are you really this fricking stupid? I'm serious, just how stupid are you?

Okay, but that doesn't mean they're required to adopt their teachers' beliefs.
I agree the lesson was stupid, and the teacher should be punished for it. I just don't get the outrage over it.

Probably a lot smarter than you are.

One the person is FORCED to be there.
One the other CHOOSES to listen.
Do you still not get it, good god man. Even otto wasnt this stupid.

I can agree with that.
For the record, I don't think one is any more dangerous than the other. I was just posing a question as many seem outraged over this, yet barely bat an eye when Obama is constantly compared to Hitler by many right-wing radio hosts and columnists.

Now it's very early in my college career. So who knows if this is normal with how college normally works, but I would think political views, religion, or subjects like this wouldn't or shouldn't be involved within certain classrooms environments. I'm already witnessing a few uncomfortable moments and one of those classes has been English1101. I'm taking English only to become a better writer and critical thinker. Sure didn't take it to listen to someones thoughts on certain political parties or how beliefs are seen. You can sightly feel the tension spread throughout the classroom when certain subjects are brought up by certain teachers. I like my English teacher by the way so this isn't some hate on a teacher because they're unlikeable situation. I can understand a teacher wanting to talk about subjects they're probably most familiar with, and political/religion are heavily debatable subjects too. Just seems there would be many other subjects to talk about instead. Throw in they're delivered in such one-sidelined views and the classroom has been somewhat tainted.
Now if this was a political class or something in that nature. It would be open season, but to inject ones views into class or assignments is out of place. Shoot, even in a political class one-sided views are probably frowned upon. Matter of fact, I'm taking American National Government(POS2041) this semester, so I'll find out soon enough. I took this class so I'll get a better understanding of how the USA Government works, why it works that way way it does, USA History, and other important things. Plus, POS2041 falls into my required degree needs. I want to never again vote while not being as informed as one should be. You know, I want to become a better USA citizen.....
I understand that college is chosen by a person and elementary/high school isn't, but this is a public college institution. Many different views go into paying(Taxes)for that college, so it would only be fair that many different views be taught or not taught......

I sort of agree with this, but I just have to advise you that, based on my experience in the classroom, 6th graders are not ready for that complex discussion. In fact, they're not even close to ready. It would be like throwing mathematical physics at them.
True. Of course it depends on IQ but I think smart kids can do complex critical thinking starting in 8th grade. Average kids more like 10th grade. Idiots...never, not even as adults.

Okay, so it's safe to assume that during your schooling, anytime a teacher shared their personal beliefs on a topic, you adopted that same position? I can think of many examples from my schooling where a teacher injected his/her personal beliefs into a lesson, but I never felt forced to adopt those same beliefs.

The problem is that if she would have used President Obama as an example she'd be gone
