re: Is LSU a better team for having played Wisconsin?

Couldn't have asked for a better scenerio, a young team goes on the road against a good team, falls behind, mounts a second half comeback & wins the game. Gave the young players a taste of it all; road environment, adversity, & victory. A blowout win may have given the young guys too much false bravado & the comeback was a great way to teach them that "fight to the end"mentality.

Just wondering if that game will benefit us enough to make a difference in two weeks versus Moo State. In the long run, with the playoff committee, we should get the nod before a team that played three cupcakes over the same period, but I can't see where it would make any significant difference in the actual play of the team to warrant scheduling that game.
That game will/has had a very positive impact on the team's development. You don't get better by playing teams that you can steamroll. You get better by playing an admirable opponent. You get better by facing adversity and powering through it. The only way to get stronger/better is by facing challenges.
It will do wonders both mentally and physically.

Please explain this thought. I seriously have no idea what you mean.

I sure as heck hope so? Wha...?

Opening against a legitimate opponent, while risky in terms of potential W/L stats, pays dividends not only when it's a W but in terms of the progress made by young players in adapting to the college game. I think the Wisconsin game will turn out to be of real developmental value down the road, in addition to its SOS value.

I didn't ask should we have scheduled the game, I asked if LSU were a better team because we played the game.
YES, they are, for a lot of reasons...CheerWine had one of the better reasons...to a young and inexperienced team like LSU, every game, every practice, and any film work done is a big help to the team...

Wisconsin is not a perfect team and we aren't either. What Wisconsin did was show what really needed work. If we play Sam Houston first we blow them out and think we have this incredible team and you don't see the weaknesses. Wisconsin exposed the offensive line in the first half a case can be made that the Oline still has a lot to prove and live up to preseason speculation. They did not play well against WI when both tackles were in the game and they out weighed SHSU by 60lbs per man. But at least they know they have work to do to be as good as they are supposed to be. And that is the strength of this very young team. I think the Dline is in a similar situation with all of the youth. Decent in the second half of Whisky and totally out manned SHSU aganist much lessor talent.

Of course. The experience the team got was critical. Nationally televised game against a ranked team in front of 75,000+ people. That alone helped the team grow.

Well said, for a team this young to go through that is a major major boost to moral and is good for future games where we might be in a similar situation.

IMO, I don't think Moo St is as good as advertised. I think we beat them by at least 2 touchdowns.
Me either. I'm actually dissapointed. They'll be able to score about as well as they did last year, but they may be worse on defense.
I have us winning this by 10+

If Wisconsin can run the Big 10 table then the game could pay huge dividends for LSU in December.

This team is young. Coming back from 17 down is called adversity. Something they wouldn't have experienced if they played 3 games that were all blow outs. So if we get behind a moo state, we know this team is capable of clawing its way back.

Losing to a 10 win Wisky team is better than blowing out another tomato can team.In. The eyes of the committee .....so they say .

The main variable here is our line play. If our O line play doesn't improve, they could give us trouble.
A couple of drives vs. Wisky and Sam Houston hasn't put my mind at ease yet. I can't wait for our first SEC game.

Exactly!!! These are the teams LSU should schedule, Ucla, Stanford, OK, FS, Ohio State, USC, Oregon, Texas, OK State, Miami, Michigan, USC, please USC! Anyway the teams that give you respect in others eyes across the country. Teams that everyone THINKS are world beaters. Then LSU comes in and kills all their dreams and hopes. The teams that at the end they say damn LSU is pretty good, so is Les miles. Teams that leave no question who daddy is look if we would of lost that game it would of propelled Wisky probably to a playoff birth, but we win and move up a spot? I mean if your going to do it, why not do it big, at the same time you get crazy TV ratings. LSU vs USC would get the whole nation watching and put em in their place too all at the same time
