Turning in front of a bike a few hundred feet away when you have no idea he's going 100 is not the same.

EXACTLY. at 150ft a sec (more or less) at 5-6 seconds away, thats nearly 1000 feet away. not sure how long it takes to slow down & turn, but its probably 5-10 seconds.

at 10 seconds, the driver of the car wouldn't even see the guy 2000 feet away.

at 5 seconds he probably wouldn't see more than a black dot.

at 2 seconds, the fricker was still nearly 300 feet away.

no way the driver was expecting a fricking bulletrain coming at him when he turned. he's expecting cars going maybe 40mph or whatever teh limit is.

That doesn't remove fault from the driver not paying attention.

Let's just go ahead and end this thread on these thoughts.

I was wondering about that angle, solid breakdown.

At the time he committed to the turn, I wonder if he could even have seen the bike at all or could have reasonablly assumed how quick the bike would get there.

At 5 seconds the motorcycle was behind another car that was seemingly doing the speed limit. No way the motorcycle was visible to the turning car at 5 seconds away.
