Right, Downsouthdave had some dealings with Toyota recently.

Yeah, Toyota tells the dealer rock bottom is this. Bottom line you can't sell it for less. Toyota dealers don't buy their stock. Consignment type scenario.
Whereas the dealer actually buys the inventory from Ford and can sell for nothing if he chooses, which is why a truck sitting there for a year is a real pain in the arse for a ford dealer.

For damn near a year? I'm a little versed in the car sales industry, and it doesn't seem very common for a truck over 2 years old to be sitting on a lot for almost a year with only 5 miles.
Hell as long as its warrantied, I guess it doesn't matter. Chances are you'll need it, its a ford.

This makes sense. When this truck came up I started searching Google for this situation. I found an instance where a Ford dealer had to auction a couple souped up mustangs because they didnt sell.
That's why I was asking if the dealers finance what's on their lot, what is the monthly penalty for it to just sit there.

My shitty experience was due to toyota of Slidell. I would rather set myself on fire than deal with them ever again. Toyota corporate was amazing, they had the best customer service ever.
I don't know about the price being the price... They all come up with different numbers while shopping around.

The automaker probably gives them 90 or 180 day terms for each vehicle, after that point it starts to cost them more than they would like. Can;t believe there are still new 2013s on lots at all, I would have thought the 2014s came out more than 300 days ago.

Unless you can buy it for the price of a lightly used, similar KR, I'd pass.
Buying a 2014 when the 15's are out is one thing, buying a '13 when the 15's are out is another.
It will have a full new truck warranty so there's that. I'd want at least 14K off sticker for that 13.
You can probably get 11K off a sticker for a 14.

Which would make a whole lot of sense. I dont see how a vehicle on the lot for almost a year is a good thing for the dealer.

Agreed that's what I am going in at; cost for a lightly used KR. shite, the 14's are going for 12K off just with Ford's rebates.

If that's the case, you'd have to ask yourself what it would take to put you in a year older vehicle.
I'd be looking for at least an additional 2-3K.

Bought a new car for them, told 'em I wanted to buy another one.
They never called back.

With the totally redesigned 2015's about to hit the lots
I read on one of the F150 Forums that one of the Ford plants would continue making the 2014s until the Christmas break shut down. Then that plant would be retooled for the 15s.

Can someone link to this? I've seen this referenced a few times but haven't seen it outright or what the parameters/methodology is. Thanks!

Here is 4lsu2's vehicle buying protocol: All you have to do is pick one out and simply tell them you are going to buy one today and ask if they are in the selling mood today. Tell them you aren't interested in any other bullshite but bottom line pricing. When they ask about a trade, tell them you are keeping your existing vehicle to pull that POS Ford back to them when it breaks down. This gets them to their selling price. Once they give you this price, tell them thank you and it appears they aren't in the selling mode today. Next, call another dealership after looking at their website and tell them the same thing about a particular unit on their lot. Give them the stock number and say you are about to buy one at such and such dealership and wanted to see if they cared about making a sell. Get their lowest price and compare it with the first offer. This is where it gets to be a hoot!!! Once you get the second price, tell both of them to piss up a rope. This eliminates the conversation of a trade in. When you get to the point of buying, go back and say you're ready and that particular price but decided to trade in. Now you're at your price on the new vehicle and have the trade as bargaining power. They will attempt to low ball the trade and make their money back from the new one. Walk away when they insult you on the trade and tell them the other dealership is offering you more money. I've made many a enemy doing this over the last month. Several salesmen have been told to eat a bag of dicks, piss up a rope, no way I'd buy here if this was the last place on earth, etc. In the end, I saved several thousand dollars both ways (new and trade in) and couldn't be happier. They are all wanting to screw you to tears to make their commission, but you are the gorilla with a chainsaw for a cock in this situation.
Here you go. Search OB for F150 the thread he posted it on will come up.
