I have family in Whidbey Island not from from there. Awesome place.

I've lived in the Seattle area for the last 3 years.
It is the cleanest most beautiful place I've lived. Everyone is pleasant and the summers are awesome.
The bad:
The winter can grind on you. Its grey and the days are really short.
The "Seattle Freeze" is not a phenomenon. People are very nice on the surface but have no real desire to develop a true friendship with you.
Its far. It takes us a full day to travel to visit family and now that we have a kid it makes it a complete pain in the arse.

Might just be my favorite city...

Lots of hot Russian and Korean chicks. A lot of the native girls are hipster/feminist types.

My favorite US city. Daughter is going to college there next year and we are building a new home about 50 miles away...we are all counting the days.

Best metro area in the US. Good quality of life, great scenery.

I love Seattle. I plan on going back soon.

Sherman is a thug and only covers one third of the field.

Incredible city I lived there 2 years in my 20's . The weather is godawful . Now in my 50's I couldn't stand it.

I lived there for 1.5 years and I miss it. Wasn't a fan of the weather, though.

Lots dirty hippies.

Spent 3 days in Seattle in early August. Weather was great, food was great, and the scenery is unbeatable. Only problem was the mass amount of bums/homeless begging for money all over the place. Guy at the hotel said it became a major problem about 5 years ago.
I got offered a job to live there, but couldn't afford the cost of living.

Rains too much

Nice place to visit but is way too dreary for me to live there.

I have been twice and enjoyed both trips. The scenery is awesome like you say. The major downside to me is the large homeless/druggy population. There seemed to be hobos everywhere I went but not the hobos like you see in DC. These hobos were constantly roaming around walking. You couldn't really avoid them. Vancouver was much nicer IMO.

I've never been to Seattle but I'm pretty sure it would be my favorite city in the US.

Love it, second only to boston but they need to do something about the druggies.
