Looking to get my foot in the door at one of the many Petro-chemical plants we have here in south Louisiana. Anyone know any companies who bring in entry level employees that can work their way up to a decent salary? Maybe process operating?

Go to rigzone.com if you haven't done so already.

I've heard people say they don't have enough workers to fill the positions. That means you should be able to just walk in and say "here I am."

My family has some land leased with the oil company down in south MS. I'll give you shovel and show you the area they are to drill....Maybe you can get to it first.

Learn to be an E&I or Mechanical Designer. Good money, some overtime, and no shift work.

You have any post HS education? To answer question, yes there are, tons of jobs available. If you have no education, welders make pretty good money as do pipe fitters.

It takes a little education to qualify as a welder or pipefitter. Not just anybody of the street can do those jobs.

Get a ptech degree. While in school, there's normally internships/job fairs available to you. Most guys get hired before they finish their 2 year degree
