He's implying converting to Christ or being killed.
Is it surprising that a self-professed Christian would think Christianity is the answer for them? I'm sure atheists would rather ISIS members stop believing in any sort of FSM than become die-hard Christians.
I'm sure if you gave Phil the choice, regardless what he said here, of them remaining Muslim or becoming atheists, he would go with atheist.
And he would choose atheism for them over fundamental Islam why????????? Because he believes that they are using their religious beliefs as justification for killing non-Muslims. So, again, he wants them to convert away from those religious beliefs or die.
It makes sense. That he wants them to become Christians is hardly remarkable. I'm sure he wants everyone in the world to become Christians (he would probably throw Catholics into the bucket that needs conversion). The difference in this case is that ISIS's particular religious beliefs are leading to beheadings and such of innocents.
He didn't say that atheists should convert or die, did he? So this idea y'all are perpetuating of him as some Holy Warrior out to kill everyone who doesn't become a Christian is not true. A specific people are doing specific things, and in order to make that stop, they must either be converted or cowed. In this particular case, they don't seem likely to be cowed by anything short of death.
Now, have I said that in enough ways?

So why am I supposed to care what a backwoods hillbilly has to say about our national interests?

But nobody's religion is better than others.
I know this was a lot of pages back. This isn't true.
A religion which says to take care of the fatherless and widows and inspires people to actually do that is better than a religion which leads people to behead other innocent people on the TV.
That is objectively true. But you're probably not into anything objective.

They're fighting a holy war against the West, we are foolish for failing to fight the same war.

That's spinning it. He's implying converting to Christ or being killed. I'm guessing he's not going to do the dirty work but is all for sending our boys out there to kill them.
Why doesn't he kill all his non-Christian neighbors?

Really, so him calling for conversion to Christianity or murder of another religious group due to differing views is better than ISIS how?

If he wants to kill Isis so bad, he can go over there himself.

I'm going to go ahead and state this for the record, if something happens to Pope Francis and he is killed or maimed by a member of ISIS, it's on. I'm dropping what I'm doing and I'm going over there. I doubt I will be the only one.

quote:Why do you keep saying this? ISIS is a violent organization that explicitly states their intention of destroying our country. They have murdered our civilian citizens. We pay taxes to the government and have a social contract, it is totally reasonable to expect our government to keep us safe. When you get down to it, it's no different than our government convicting a domestic murderer. I support our government convicting murderers, because I have no inclination or ability to capture and punish these murderers myself. In your view, is everyone who supports murder convictions expected to personally carry out the capture and conviction themselves?
If he wants to kill Isis so bad, he can go over there himself.

So you want the president sending us troops overseas to kill every terrorist group?
Sounds like a great plan lol
I'm sure nothing will go wrong

If it doesn't, you may have some problems with your current argument.

This what I got from what he said.
It is the same as a secular figure head saying to ISIS stop killing or we will have to kill you.

Believe you me, with this terrorist group, if you don't fight them where they are at right now, then we will be fighting them in these United States. Given the fact that they are killing Christians and moderate muslims alike, unless you are ready to convert to radical Islam or lose your head, I would hope you would get on board with Phil.
