Old timers- Any of yall catch tarpon in Lake P back in the day?

Stumbled across this recent article. Tarpon is definitely high on my wish list to catch that hasn't been crossed off yet.

I've heard about there being a hole in the lake about 40ish feet deep that they can be found. Actually heard it's close enough for people to kayak (that would be a blast). Its just tough fishing. A lot of sitting around waiting to see or mark fish. Not enough people want to try.

It is crazy the places they'll show up. I've been lucky enough to cast at small one's in the freshwater canals in bayou black (no luck catching). It's like you're bass fishing, then a 2-3 foot tarpon blows up on bait fish.

Ditto that being on the list of fish to catch
ive also noticed more of them the pasr few yrs. Last yr one came out of the water REALLY close to my boat at the mouth of main pass

My dad was just talking to me yesterday about this. Him and his brother apparently used to catch them back in the 50s-60s.

There was a report on rodnreel about a week ago of a school spotted in the eastern side of the lake. Schools of Jacks and redfish in the lake now.

They come in yearly near the rigolets, I thought this was common knowledge?
