for hosting a successful tailgate that had a great turnout.

The members of the board spent a lot of time working on it!

I hope those who attended enjoyed the event!

Is it really necessary to come here and congratulate yourself and pretend your tailgate was a success when most everybody has said it was horrible?

Far from being worth $50 a pop. Not near enough seating, very long lines for food and drinks expensive. But it was very comfortable a/c wise.

This is being kind.

It sucked. The line to get in was long. The food line was forever! There were two beer gardens but only one open to the general population which resulted in really long lines for expensive beer. The liquor lines...no one had time for that. The bathrooms had lines because half the stalls were out of order. We had no where to sit. We had to sit on the floor.

Never again. Alumni "tailgates" are dead to me.

Ran out of good food, crazy long lines for beer. the AC and BTE may have made it worth it. But overall it kinda sucked

Lines were long for everything, including food, drinks & restrooms. I HATE lines. I don't know who catered the event, but the food sucked. The jambalaya may have been the worst I have ever had. The Golden Band & BTE were good. Overall, I was disappointed. I just hope the proceeds raised go to a good cause.

The food was fine! Bar-b-que and Mexican cooked and catered by Aramark!

Dude, try to take criticism a little better. Maybe you need to go back and work on the issues and actually improve the shite that didn't work. If so many people are complaining, it means your shite sucked!!!!

Stop fighting back, it only makes you look stupid

Did the Houston Alumni make any money off of this, and if so do they report or cut a check of their earnings to the LSU alumni assoc? And if so how much? Or is this priviledged info?

I was there.

- Seating was horribly inadequate. There were more people sitting on the concrete floors than there was seating.

- You could walk through food line once, and get one plate of food. Period. For the entire 4 hours.

- Once you got your food, most were forced to sit on the concrete floor and eat.

- You could buy $50 tickets at the door, but it only allowed you entrance. You had to pay for food and drinks on top of that.

Honestly, it was so poorly planned, I was surprised that it was sponsored by LSU.

As far as our group, the event was a major disappointment. I am sure a lot of work was put into this. However, they didn’t put much thought into this or they didn’t care about the overall fan experience. The lines were long for everything & the food was awful. Cajun food, such as Jambalaya, should not be cooked by Texans. It was the worst Jambalaya I have ever tasted. Would I do it again? Maybe, but only because you would hope they learned from their mistakes.

Ladies and Gents,

Since I planned the tailgate I WOULD like to thank all those that came and supported us! I would also like to apologize for all those that had issues. Having said that there are many misconceptions about the event that I would like to get straight. And we welcome any and all to help us if you have the time. The price was $50 pre-purchase AND at the door. The $75 was to get people to pre-purchase. Thank you to all those that did so. The food was ordered based on pre purchase. We were not able to order food for walk ups. We ordered quite a bit more than what was purchased to cover a large portion of the walkups. As you can imagine having an event of that magnitude costs a fortune! Having it at a convention center is worse! LSU Houston made nothing on the beer, wine and mixed drinks. The caterers were warned of how much Tigers can put down and they consistently said they knew how to handle the crowd. Remember, the Rodeo, which they handle has upwards of 100,000 people a day!

I'm sorry that anyone sat in lines. There were items that didn't show up that would have made the beer lines better. But there were 6 bars, all of which serving beer and mixed drinks. The food cost was $30+ per plate. SO anyone that hit multiple food lines or had seconds....well you can do the math. The rental of the room was not cheap. To rent a TV for the day was $750. That's JUST the TV. Does not include hooking it up or electricity being run to the TV's.

NOTHING will ever beat tailgating with friends and family on the campus of LSU. We all know that. The opportunity to throw a tailgate party at a neutral site doesn't come along often. We took this chance and did what we could with it! If we were allowed to have it outside and get whoever we wanted to cater the event we would have done a much better job but even outside we were held to the preferred vendor contract and the tailgate would have been shut down! Our hands were tied and the struggle was very real.

I'm sorry if some of you waited in lines for food or drinks. I'm sorry if you feel like the event wasn't worth it. You can sleep easy at night knowing that the little amt of money made on the event is going back to LSU scholarships and to help other LSU needs.

Suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Showing up and assisting and acting on those suggestions is what we need!
Thank you to everyone who showed up! Again I apologize to anyone who did not enjoy the party! To those that made the best of the situation as MOST Tigers do......Thank you! LSU Houston appreciates each and everyone of you for supporting the cause!
Cheers,

Man, I'm glad I went to Midtown instead although that was almost too packed as well. I eventually waiting like 45 min at Gaslamp and got a seat at the bar and then had everything I needed. I was going to go to the alumni tailgate but the line to get in looked like it was gonna take 30 minutes, and then when I walked down the line to go buy a ticket I couldn't help but think "these do not look like people I want to tailgate with." Didn't see anyone my age (22) hardly.

Walk Ons tailgate was pretty good. And it wasn't catered by crappy arse Aramark. Why in the world would you have Aramark cater your tailgate?

Actually I have heard from multiple people that the tailgate was a complete and utter embarrassment. People that bought tickets ahead of time that were "guaranteed" a meal ticket were not provided a meal ticket because you ran out of food? You had one bar set up for that many LSU fans? What the frick did people pay $50 for?

Sounds like a shite hole of a time and a complete embarrassment for the Houston Alumni Chapter. I live in Houston and would never contribute a nickel to the alumni chapter here for the shitshow you guys called a tailgate before the game on Saturday night.

Massive success for those lining their pockets, not so much for the attendees, apparantly.

Well, I paid to attend but after waiting in line for what seemed like forever to get in, I left. My friends who did make it in said there was no place to sit. So I'm glad you got my $200 but I'm not real happy about it
