i doubt there's another techie on here who races bicycles but this is big news. shimano has pretty much killed this category with the release of Di2 6 years ago..Campagnolo can't compete..and SRAM has been completely quiet.

But now, it looks like in addition to making the leap to electronic shifting from mechanical, they're raising the bar one step further and eliminating ALL THE WIRING

this is great news for triathletes with difficult-to-wire TT bike design and those of us who like a cleaner look to their bikes and hate having to constantly swap out and adjust wires and keep them clean.

here's a couple of pics of the shifters and front & rear derailleurs with the battery clearly visible.

I'm super pumped. This won't come cheap..my guess is just the shifters, front & rear derailleurs alone will cost north of $3,000.00 and that doesn't include the other components.

LOOKS BADASS

Will be extremely badass and probably not work well. No way I'd buy the first run.

I can't wait to hack that sucker and send you into a low gear on a decline.

ETA:

Or incline. That'd be funny too.

Was this question asked? What does this solve?

I am contemplating moving from Chorus 11 to Super Record Electronic--I understand it actually works pretty well (not that I need it, but it seems like a pretty cool gadget).

Yeah... I'm fine with my SRAM Red. I just can't see myself spending that much money on components, just for the components. Maybe when I buy a road bike in the future though. It's gotta be the whole set for me for some reason

This could be great for serious racers but I don't see myself going to electronic shifting anytime soon.

I'd forget to charge the batteries. Sure makes for a clean looking bike though.

Sounds like a terrible idea.
