It's not. That's 36% below MSRP. A lot of those websites are just used to get you in the door. Then they say well we don't have the one you want, but here's what we got and we'll frick you on interest rate and trade in.

Actually it is legit because I recently bought 2 new cars using truecar. You get your quote ($15k like I posted) and about 3 local dealers will call you. All of them will honor the price. I chose the one that gave threw in free 200k powertrain warranty on brand new Hyundai Sonata.

Not all dealerships participate though. My family lives in Nashville and none of the dealers there were offering price that low. They drove down to Atlanta where I live to get the deals.

$12K for a Altima with 100,000+ miles. No way.

You can get a lot more car than one with a century of miles on it for that price.

The BMW will require higher maintenance costs. Nicer car but it's going to be more expensive to own and insure.

Nissan would be taking you for a ride.

You could get a much newer and far less miles Corolla for that price.

Second the Mazda 3. 140,000 miles on mine and no major issues to report. Still getting 30+ mpg as well.

damn that's overpriced

Amen - I have a 2007 Lexus ES 350 with 130k miles that I would take $9500 for, right now.

It's twice the car of the Altima.

Really?

I'll never understand why parents will put their kids in a vehicle that the child will never be able to afford to maintain. That is teaching them to be dependent on the parents forever. IDK, maybe that's their plan when they do things like this.

I bought a 2009 Fusion for my daughter last year, for 8k, 58,000 miles or so, it has been a great little car.

I think both of your deals are overpriced, especially the Nissan. I know nothing of the BMW, but the repair costs scare me if what I hear is true.

Corolla and be very happy about it whether she needs an oil change, tires, or she crashes it. Safe little car will run forever. She can trade it in when she has a kid one day.

Look for a used Accord, Camry, Civic, Corolla, maybe Mazda 3. Nothing else.

Add Subaru to that list and drop the Mazda.

beemer's are only good if you have a non-existent lifetime warranty that covers everything. their engines are awesome, but every fricking thing else goes wrong with them, a lot.

^This. And when the things do go wrong, you get charged triple.

Go for something like this, Camry or Accord.

www.cars.com you'll find plenty.

Quick back and forth with my wife after this thread.

Talking about driving to Birmingham to look at these vehicles:

LINK

LINK (She has scoffed at Camrys, but its worth looking at)

LINK

What could I realistically be looking at paying for these three vehicles. Are they priced well?

Got a new Corolla about five years ago. Never had any issues with it. Also have leather but I think that was done after. I got it as a gift from my grandfather after college so not any help with the money side, but I can tell you it's a reliable ride.

Those are two poor choices as neither one leads the league in reliability .

Of those two, the Nissan is the lesser of two evils.
