McShay ranks Jalen Mills grades as #3 CB for 2015 draft

I don't agree but interesting that he may not even start and if he does start or get meaningful snaps it's likely at safety. Link requires insider access. Excerpt is below:
"Mills has very good height for a corner and should continue to fill out his frame. His top-end speed is above-average but not elite, but he will be able to hold up on an island so long as his press technique continues to improve. He does a good job of tracking the ball and uses his length and good leaping ability to challenge receivers on 50-50 balls, and he's aggressive in run support with good tackling skills. He brings with him some character baggage that NFL teams will need to look into."

Our secondary will be as good as 2011. Don't think it can get better. It's all up to the new coach though. Ron cooper was a beast.

Whoever wrote that knows what he's talking about. Idiot posters on here think a solid NFL talent, like Mills, is a scrub.

Uhh no one said he was a scrub.. But he wasn't great last year by any means.

Yeah, it seems other teams like to pick on him. I think with the talent around him that he'll be improved.

He is gonna play a lot of Safety this season and even a little NB. I think he bulks up for the draft too.

This, Mills is a quality DB I do like him better at safety though.

We need him at safety, but that's just a testament to the ability of white and Robinson. Mills is a very good cb and was the best on the team when he was freshman.

It appeared he often expected help over the top which lead to some of his busted coverages. It's hard to say if this was his fault, or a bigger issue with the safety play.

This. I was never big on Loston because he always just seemed to be looking for a big hit and being out of place.

They also rotated heavily between Thompson, Martin, and Eugene. I'm not sure if this contributed to some of the growing pains in the secondary last year.

Just because Mills was often chasing an open man in our zone coverages doesn't meant they were his blown assignments.
Aaron Murray made Craig Loston his plaything last year.
Without having seen coaches' grades, Id guess Mills graded out pretty well all season, probably best of all our DBs.

Thank you for better explaining my point. Mills had a strong freshman campaign with an All American backing him up. Things got dicey once he no longer had guys around him on the same page.

Not having a consistent pass rush didnt help either.

True, but this wouldn't explain why Mills would get really pissy when guys got wide open over the top.

Character baggage? Lol. Even if he's found guilty, he will fit rt in.

Regardless of who was at fault, there was ZERO reason for his fits/pointing fingers in the middle of the field. You can't do that. He is immensely talented. He could be great this year and at the next level. No need for pointing fingers on the field.

I think our secondary has the potential to be the best secondary of all time at LSU!! On paper we should have the number one pass defense in the nation!

Now that DBU is back on track, the Chief will start having fun again with his play calls.
The advantages of having two lockdown corners with one of the best pure cover safeties in the nation elevate everyone else on the defense in huge ways.
We really need to remember all of these so called analysts who are downing the defense right now because they are the ones who will be jumping on the bandwagon as soon as they think that it's safe.
