Most people don't have the balls to do that.
But ask yourself, on a scale of 1-10 what is the absolute WORST case scenario that would unfold if you did just what you said? my guess is it's not near the tragedy as most make it out.
What, you're broke and have to move home and bum off your parents for 2 months. Big frickin deal.
If you're in a rut just go for it...don't wait for retirement the time is NOW!
Now ask yourself this, how hard would it be on a scale of 1-10 to get back right in the exact scenario you are in today. Again assuming the worst, my guess is moving back and finding another shitty 9-5 job would still be a pain scale of 4 max.
Do it do it do it

Everyone has thought that.
But where ever you go, there you are. Changing locations won't change you. So work on yourself where you are.
Then figure out what you can change where you are. Disgusted with yourself? Start exercising. Hate your job? Line out what you need to do to make a change. Feeling empty? See a counselor or go do something spiritual (church, retreat, meditation, yoga, whatever works for you).
If you change those things and you still have the itch, bon voyage.

I've been a business owner for 25 years and I'm seriously thinking about a move out of the country to Panama.

plenty.
no wife and kids.

Thanks Dr. Phil.. naw but seriously I workout 3 times a week and I' don't hate my job it's just not challenging at the moment.. It's something me and friends have talked about cause no one is excited about going to work.. We all have degrees and were just existing.. We could just exist on a island I guess

Thank you.
Think I'll spend the rest of my day in my office at work doing research for this.

Everyday!
My dream job has become either the guy with the highlighter standing at the exit door of SAMs
or the guy cutting the grass in the air conditioned tractor on the interstate.
LOW STRESS!

.......But seriously
what are some good islands or locations. Caribbean? costa Rica? Hawaii?
I want to move to Croatia but the language barrier might be a problem

My wife and I have talked about it. Probably wouldn't do it until we were in our late forties, though. Wouldn't be a beach, but rather out in the countryside some where, possibly foreign (Italy, France, England, etc...).

And moving to a tropical island getting a job waiting tables or working for a resort? Move with a couple of friends get a house and just live.. I couldn't be doing any worse there than I am here right?
It's my alternative to suicide. Why check out of life altogether when we in the modern world have the option to just check out or our current circumstances, sell all our shite at clearance prices, and set up in some tropical paradise. With regards to knowledge and professionalism, even those of us who have never worked in the service industry compare pretty favorably to most in the hospitality sector in those kinds of places. You could probably work your way up to assistant manager of a mid-sized resort in a few year's time.

If anyone is thinking about quitting your job, I urge you to read 4-hour work week. A lot of the concepts are not applicable to everyone but there are nuggets of information scattered throughout the book that alone make the purchase worthwhile.

I was thinking about it but with all you effers there already it would be as crowded as where I am now.
