I've finally decided to try out some ebooks... Don't judge me for buying hard copies of books at used bookstores.. And I'm trying to understand what is a good reader and format. I'm using Google books app right now.. Is there something better? What about on iOS?

what about comic books??
anyone on here a serious book/comics reader on their phones or tablets??
the thought that i might spend 6 months using a shitty app and not knowing it makes me sad.

Comicflow is free and works well enough for me. Reading comics on a tablet gets old real fast as its heavy to hold in your hands.
You can get CBR files from what fwiw. they have one of the largest comic book collections on the net.

one of the reasons i'm thinking about this.
i want to go back & read all the FF4s from the beginning. i have a great many of them from issues 75 - 300ish but haven't read them in years.

Find the reader you like and use Calibre to reformat as needed. I'll let you figure out the DRM aspect on your own, when, not if, you get there.

PDF is what it is as far as layout. The epub and mobi formats are scalable and look better on e-reader devices as you can change text, and it'll fit to the devices width, whereas a PDF will require constant zooming/scrolling.

+1 on Calibre for managing the books. It can be confusing at times, but it is great for getting things to a Kindle or converting so they work in iBooks on your iPad.

one last question..the 4 or 5 i 'converted' were uploaded to the google 'play books' cloud (i guess).
are different apps cloud based or not cloud based? whats the access to your books? does it have to convert them each time you want to view it if you've got it stored on box or gdrive?
it took about 3 minutes or so to convert to google books and i don't want ot have to do that each time.

so what about cloud storage limits?
i'm so spoiled with 20,000 songs on google music..if hypothetically speaking i just grabbed an 8GB Fantastic Four CBR collection and wanted access to it from any device..that would kill half my gdrive space.
i guess i can just store it on BOX or something.

those readers probably can't read it from gdrive anyway. you will have to put it on the device.
8gb of comics is a LOT of comics. what 300 issues?
