Not trying to be mean - just gonna shoot you straight. You seriously need to read some books about investing.
The goal is not to buy "cheap" but to buy "value".
And think about why you're doing this. To make money to retire? Stocks isn't for you then.

Get ready to make a lot of money. Before I had my Scottrade account I was working 60hr weeks making about 300$ working for a company that specialized in working and stuff. Now that I have my Scottrade account I work fully at home making about $730,000 a week. I'm really enjoying life now.

Stock newbie trading in dollar stocks? That's a recipe for disaster. Read the sticky at the top of this board for some nice, low fee mutual funds/ETFs and stick with that for the time being.

Russian considers anything under 50$/share a 'Penny' stock.

sounds like what you are looking for are high risk/ high reward stocks.

You da man, a bona fide 1%'er.

Not quite. But under $5? Yes, that's a penny stock.

At least two have been discussed at length on this board.

Save yourself some time and just set your money on fire.

Plus it would probably be more entertaining. I've read that it burns a lovely shade of orange.

I'll give you a serious response. This board can be very condescending. A lot of people like to be jackasses to newbies, but everyone was there at one point.
A "cheap" stock doesn't necessarily mean it has a low price point. A $2 stock can be much more expensive than a $500 stock, simply because it may not be worth that much. To illustrate, Apple just had a stock split where they went from about $500 to under $100. Does that mean the stock is "cheaper"? Not at all, nothing changed with their financials they simply split the current stock resulting in more shares and each one being worth less than before.
As a poster said above, you are looking for value, which is very hard to find currently. Do yourself a favor a read a few books on investing before you make any moves.

With your requested price, looking at low priced biotechs or marijuana companies wouldnt be a bad play if you are looking for a boom or bust scenario. Just be ready to lose it all. It all depends on the amount of risk you are willing to take though. LNGLF is a stock play many of this board have talked about, and it meets your price range. But the best thing to do is read, read, read. Read news articles, research companies, and read books on the topic. Im 25 and just getting into investing myself and I normally fill downtime at work on various financial and investment sites reading articles. Good luck though and enjoy the roller coaster!

LIQD looking good for entry as well.
Waiting on DARA to announce partner for KRN5500. Should give it a nice boost.
