You never know. His recruitment is wide open and there are no big time programs as his finalists. Good to see Mickey is putting in a good word for LSU.

His recruitment has been super entertaining, but I'm glad LSU made it back on his list!

Bingo. You have to like our chances when there aren't any blue bloods in the race. SMU is going to difficult to beat out, but people are kidding themselves if they don't think Emmanuel bailing on SMU for China severely crippled Brown's momentum. Just my opinion, but I really, REALLY like our chances with him

It’s funny, I was reading the other day and some people didn’t understand why I’d put LSU on my list with Ben Simmons going there, but I don’t think they understand that we both do our thing. Ben’s a great player, but we could 100 percent play together; you don’t see a lot of post guys that play the way I play.
Me likey

I've always been negative about our chances with Thomas, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I really like his game as much as anyone in that class and I don't want to get my hopes too high. He's got that high school Chris Webber vibe.
He and Simmons would be great together. The only people trying to sell the myth that they wouldn't vibe well is other college coaches trying to bend his ear.

This. If Simmons continues to improve his 3-point shot, anyone could work well with him
For poops and giggles, let's just assume we get Thomas and Dickerson.
The only thing that would scare me is could Johnny adapt from a fast-paced offense like we should have this year with the athletes we have on this roster to a more physical offense when our top 3 bigs would be Thomas, Dickerson and second-year Elbert?

Will have to defer to someone else on that as I am, this very moment, unrealistically buying Eric Musselman stock.

I cut my list down to six last week; in no particular order it’s UNLV, LSU, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Texas A&M and SMU.
quote:Hmmmmm.
Brandon Sampson, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Baton Rouge (LA) Madison, has a top six of Cal, LSU, Oklahoma State, St. John’s, UCLA and Texas A&M.

I'm no expert, but I don't think there's a lot to that.
I actually think the two Cali schools stronger players for Sampson than anyone else on that list outside of LSU, and Thomas is wide open. Also, Butch Pierre and Ok St seemingly offer 1500 kids each year.

Yes they are. I can't remember the last time they got a big LA kid though. Does Hickey count?

They did sign Markel Brown. Can't remember how big of a name he was coming out of LA though.

Not really. Though the school and family will try to tell you otherwise, the reason that kid went overseas is because there was a good chance he would not be cleared by the NCAA to play at SMU, or anywhere else for that matter. It not a knock on SMU or Brown. It's not like he all of a sudden woke up this summer and realized that SMU has virtually zero basketball cache, and then decided to get out while there was still time.
Also, there is a pretty good chance Mudiay would have been a one-and-done. Therefore, Thomas wouldn't have played with him anyway. SMU still has the hometown and coaching prestige edge, but you have to like that LSU is still very much in the mix. The fact that LSU has two Dallas guys on this year's roster doesn't hurt either.

He wasn't. He was a low 3* that was outside of the top 100.

Will visit LSU 9/6
