Not a huge deal, as I really like college football's OT relative to the NFL method, but I've always wondered why there isn't much push to move the starting point to the 40....what are the arguments against?

While I like the current method, I do think it could be made a little better if the starting point wasn't already in FG range, making a team at least do something offensively to have an opportunity at points.

Thoughts?

I think the thought was they didn't want to make it to where both teams may not score for a while. They wanted something that would end quick (or hoped).

Change the field goal blocking rules in overtime.

Start at the 25. After each over time move the next one back five more yards.

Yeah, 35 or the 40. I don't like how if you go 3 and out you're already in reasonable FG range.

College OT really needs to be pushed back.

You shouldn't start in field goal range.

You should have to get at least one first down to be in field goal range.

So I agree.

I actually prefer the nfl overtime. It's actual football. But I would like to see the college ot pushed. Back 10-15 yards.

I don't recall ever hearing this topic discussed before.

And it should have been.

25 is too close.

Who decided on that stupid shite.

I've always said the 50. Make them truly have to drive into FG range.

Maybe just move it back to the 30 and make all FG attempts have a minimum distance, like 35 yards.

I just hope it stays the same in theory. The NFL method is lame.
