45 nearly hit him. And he wasn't trying to get close to 45. He was marching at Tony and tryinf to get close to tony so it makes sense that the car he wanted to be closest to gave him his wish

Watch the video again, the 45 car almost hit him, his mechanic said the driver didn't see the guy til the last second on twitter. The mechanic has already made his twitter private because his message went viral.

You don't have the best view out of the car that way.

I don't think he was mad, I think he wasn't backing down from the rookie.

Ill have to take your word, have never driven a sprint car.

Just seems odd since that is the side that leads into every corner in that style of racing.

So now that we know there was no spotters/radio. Tony may have known the guy was out of his car for a few seconds. He formed this master plan to buzz/spray dirt on him in a quick spurt of time.

We are all looking at this video knowing the guy is angry and out of his car. Tony didn't have this knowledge. He came around the track and may have had a few seconds to decide what he was going to do about a guy standing in the track.

Um, yeah. I think the result is enough proof that his actions weren't well thought out.

Even if he saw him as soon as the wreck was visible. This is all you are talking about. Bright lights, sweat, cars in front of him, guy is in full black, coming around the turn. You aren't going to see this guy quickly.

Then you have target fixation. Being a great driver he should be able to overcome it, but that isn't always true, even the best have been beaten by it.

Unless you can get further damning proof, there are just too many unknowns to say malicious intent.

If that was his plan wouldn't he have been higher up the track to spray the wrecked car where he would have expected the driver to be?

Let me start off by saying, I couldn't care less about NASCAR, hell its not even a sport in my eyes, but thats for another conversation.

After watching the video, I can not put any reasonable blame on Tony Stewart. Is it possible he meant to hit the guy? Sure. But there is too much reasonable doubt to convict in a court of law. The fact of the matter is the young man stepped unto a racetrack with cars speeding by. NOTHING good can come from those actions. Looks to me like he just avoided getting hit 2 other times. So if Tony didn't hit him, somebody else likely would have

Look at it this way, when you are a little kid. Your mom used to always tell you "GET OUT OF THE STREET!" Because she knows there is a good possibility that you can get hit. Unfortunately this young man decided to play with fire, and he got burned. End of story. I feel bad that it had to happen, and I send my condolences to the family. But I can not say with a straight face Tony deserves to go to prison for what happened.

Again, I do not believe there was malacious intent. Just good ole boy, redneck, no gunna back down confrontation. It got out of hand.

I don't think Stewart is an a-hole or that he wanted to do anything more than beat his chest. It just got out of hand.

The guy running across the track was in the wrong. He won the prize for being a dumbass.

Most drivers would go out of their way to avoid a little kid in the street. From the video I saw, Tony made no attempt to avoid contact.

I've watched it over and over. Looks like the guy just got too close. I didn't see TS do anything to try and hit him in that video.

Too early to tell at this point. From what I've seen and read thus far I don't see enough evidence to warrant the filing of criminal charges. Of course once the investigation is complete other things may come to light.

I think this should be said more about the dead guy than TS. Takes a special kind of stupid to intentionally walk into the middle of a race. You guys are fricking delusional at best.

kinda looked to me from the video TS was trying to intimidate him a little bit. Hard to tell from that video. Anyone who tries to say they know for sure either way are both speculating. When tempers flare and pride gets involved there is no telling what he was thinking in that moment. He might be totally innocent or he may be guilty as sin. With the way it turned out I doubt we would ever know the truth either way. With that being said, unless some condemning evidence surfaces it wouldn't be right to charge him criminally based on anything that's been shown as of now.

When he hits the driver his front wheels are turned slightly to the right and it sounds as if he accelerates which would make the rear kick to the left.

Open wheel brah. Wheels are turned by bump steer instead of steering wheel. The engine sound has already been discussed. I counted 7+ cars running at that time. You good to know which one was his.
