Convince Me To Cut The Cable Cord!

TLDR - Looking for Football Fans who have cut the cable cord.
I already use Amazon Prime and Netflix almost 100% of the time. I "FIND" things not on those two site.
Also use free Hulu for any of the tv shows they offer.
I've turned my cable box on about 4 times since the Super Bowl.
I have a land line but I have been pleading with everyone I know to only call my cell. Still haven't been able to get my mom to stop calling the land line.
Seems like an easy choice to cancel cable and the land line BUT......
Football season. I know I can run out a get a digital receiver for the TV to pick up Saints games but dropping ESPN would be a major disruption.
Sure I can "FIND" LSU games and other big games but the streaming quality of those sites is usually horrific.
If ESPN charged a $20.00 monthly fee for online access, BOOM! The Cox Reign Of Terror would be over.
I decided it was time to take action because I turned on my cable box and every channel is "not available for service" so who knows how long I have been paying Cox when the service wasn't even working.
Oh, and my bill just went up $40. I'm tired of having to do the Cancel My Service Song & Dance every year to get a lower rate for a service I don't use except during football season.

Is Monday Night Football and watching LSU on the few games they play on ESPN worth about $1500 to you? That's about how much we will save cutting the cord.
FOX - noon Saints game
CBS - afternoon NFL game & Thurs Night game
NBC - Sunday Night Football
So of the 5 NFL games broadcasted weekly, you will get 4 of them for free every wk if you get an adequate HD Antenna. LSU's big games are usually on CBS in primetime 2:30 slot that you will get. When LSU plays on ESPN, go to a friends house or a bar. That's what I will do this year.

do you have a wife or kids that you ignore while watching TV? If so, cut the cord and only ignore them during LSU sporting events.

I leach off my parents cable account for watchESPN and have a satellite for OTA channels
I have missed satellite/cable 0.00%.

i'm willing to bet you can find a friend who would give you his cable password to log into watchESPN…
i cut mine 3 years ago and haven't looked back. any big sporting event that i feel like watching is generally with friends at a bar, anyway.

This.
Granted my "fanship" of football went down in the process. It's always good to catch a game, but I certainly don't make it a priority anymore.
It also requires you to go out more often to catch some stuff and that's either a good thing or a bad thing.
WatchESPN and MLS Live through the chromecast fulfill my sports needs for the most part.
Will probably upgrade to a Roku or Fire soon to complete the transition.
