i work offshore as well, and im here more than i am home most time. Can't wear rings on any rigs i go on so i just went the tat route. We each got the others initial on our ring finger, 65 bucks for both tats. cheap, simple, and can lose it or get it stolen.

Leave all rings in the fricking truck when you go out. Even a minor slip while climbing a ladder can yank the finger off. THere is no place for any ring in an industrial environment. I learned this lesson the hard way while climbing a ladder in a plant. my feet slipped and ring caught on rung. cut my finger to the bone and partially degloved the finger. I will never wear a ring while working/climbing again.
