i do know this, i prefer personal responsibility, more freedom to do as one pleases, and less government. i know none of those things are advocated or are a part of the WoD.

i'm bored at work
but yeah, we've been going in circles for pages. people are just afraid to say they rather the current predicament as they probably have a vested interest.

You act like the WoD has been a constant since the beginning of time, or at least since the founding of our country. There is already a perfect parallel situation in our history which has been pointed out multiple times in this thread.

I literally just did. Thanks for proving my point. The only concern I didn't answer is the one about "what will the drug dealers do when they lose their job".
But I've seen numerous people answer you. It doesn't matter. Yes they may resort to stealing, but there will be more of an emphasis on hard crime, once we don't have cops setting up college kids for adderal. They'll actually be stopping crime! Imagine that

Citing mass drug-related incarceration in the US, corruption and violence in developing countries and an HIV epidemic in Russia, the group urged the UN to drop its "repressive, one-size-fits-all approach" to tackling drugs, which, according to the report, has created a $300bn black market.

Amount spent annually in the U.S. on the war on drugs: More than $51,000,000,000
Number of people arrested in 2012 in the U.S. on nonviolent drug charges: 1.55 million
Number of people arrested for a marijuana law violation in 2012: 749,825
Number of those charged with marijuana law violations who were arrested for possession only: 658,231 (88 percent)
Number of Americans incarcerated in 2012 in federal, state and local prisons and jails: 2,228,400 or 1 in every 108 adults, the highest incarceration rate in the world

Still, many critics of the current policy believe the solution is to legalize — to bring illegal drugs out of the shadows where they are controlled by criminal gangs, into the light of the legal market where they can be regulated and taxed by the government.
Jeffrey Miron, an economist at Harvard who studies drug policy closely, has suggested that legalizing all illicit drugs would produce net benefits to the United States of some $65 billion a year, mostly by cutting public spending on enforcement as well as through reduced crime and corruption.

The war on drugs is a global disaster, ranging from mass incarceration to violent, billion-dollar cartels. It is a public health nightmare, and a social justice embarrassment that targets communities of color and locks them up for profit. When the UN General Assembly convenes its special session on drugs in 2016, it should take heed of a groundbreaking report released May 7, which exposes the injustices of the drug war.
quote:.
Five Nobel Prize economists have weighed in on the repercussions of the global war on drugs, outlining “the effects of prohibition on security, drug prices, rule of law and public health,” according to a press release. It concludes that governments would make better use of their money and resources by supporting evidence-based policies, and calls on these governments to do so
LINK
quote:
Prohibition plants the seeds of its own defeat by enabling traffickers to earn a premium for undertaking the special risks involved in supplying an illegal product. That means they are highly motivated to find ways around whatever roadblocks the government throws up between them and their customers. Given all the places where drugs can be produced and all the ways they can be transported to people who want them, the idea that the government could “cut off the flow” if only it made a more determined effort is a fantasy. As critics of prohibition often point out, the government cannot keep drugs out of correctional facilities, so even turning the entire country into a prison camp would not do the trick. The most that drug warriors can hope to accomplish is to impose costs on traffickers that are high enough to raise retail prices, thereby discouraging consumption.
Economics.

Who cares if the average amount of drug users goes up, it's those peoples lives. Why do you hate freedom so much?

This is what caused me to take a long look at my stance on the issue. I claimed to be small govt. but you can't be small govt and support the status quo.

My contention with the WOD is the people saying had drugs been legalized this entire time things would be much better...that is still unknown.

Did you not read Rogers post? You have to be trolling because he just answered your question
