Sorry Tiger fans, but I agree with the Wisconsin administration. These games should be at the college sites. I don't care about the extra money, how about showing a little loyalty to your fan base? There are about 70,000 season ticket holders that deserve better than Sam Houston State and Eastern I Don't Give a Frick. Money ain't everything

Agree 1000%

It really does make me mad that their AD was adamant about scheduling a home-and-home series with us, and we weren't having any of it. Like this school doesn't make enough money already with football that we have to schedule neutral-site games.

ETA: I wanted to go up to Madison, I'm pissed that we keep doing these neutral site games and taking away the chance to visit other college campuses.

It is an SEC Blog, but the list is from Answers.com chief

Any list that has Gainesville as a top 10 college town isn't worth taking seriously.

Athens and Oxford are in a whole diffrent league compared to Gainesville, Knoxville, and Tuscaloosa.

Also, to call LA a college town is laughable

Why did Wisconsin agree to the deal? They wanted to play a home and home so bad they agreed to two neutral site games!

Gainesville would more likely make a bottom 10. It's awful. Any list that includes them in a top 10 should be dismissed out of hand.

Didn't look at the list, but if they listed Oxford and Athens below these other three then the list is, at best, wrong, and, at worst, corrupt.

LA is a college town in the same way New York and Washington DC are college towns. There are colleges in those cities, but other than that....?

Afraid of what? Wisconsin has lost its last three trips to the Rose bowl. They're soft. And their fans are complete alcoholics who root for the wrong team by the fourth quarter. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Wisconsin is over rated. They hail from the big ten, and Michigan State is the only respectable team that conference has. Come August 30th they'll get a snoot full, speed ,power and skill unlike anything they'll see the rest of the year.

Tigers weren't afraid to play in Madison.

Basically its seems LSU wanted a Houston game. Bucky jumped on it but said we want a return game and it happened to work out for Lambeau. Home and home was probably a side question from the Wisconsin end, but never got much play.

I give LSU credit. They are actually willing to have a return game. Other programs might have just said 1 neutral game and that's it. Not much in it for LSU to play in Wisconsin (no recruits) against a good opponent.

Lambeau will be insane that weekend. Wow. Can't wait.

Someone with some sense. LSU isn't "afraid" to play anyone the AThletic department just wanted a game in Houston. Getting to play a second game at lambeau is just a bonus and will bring some exposure for LSU in Wisconsin. (Just like playing in Houston brings some exposure for Wisconsin in a recruiting hotbed.). It's a win-win no matter how you look at it.

I think it is a bit ridiculous to say that Madison is nowhere near Athens when it comes to a college town. There are plenty that would disagree with you. As I said, though, it is completely opinionated and I respectfully disagree.

ESPN, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, BBC, Travel and Leisure, GQ, Campus Craze have all called Madison the top college town in the country.

There are rankings that will be sufficiently different, but the general consensus is that Madison is one of the better college towns this country has to offer.

Once it became apparent that LSU was going to make a return trip to Wisconsin in another "neutral" site opener at Lambeau, I wish they would have just made the Wisconsin series a home and home, and found somebody else to play in Houston. A Wisconsin home and home would have been a lot better than a Syracuse home and home.

Tell him that We are scared to play in the most intimidating atmosphere in college football.....tiger stadium.

That's why we have to play in Houston Atlanta or Dallas all the time.

He may say Madison is the best college town, but he says Tiger Stadium is the best thing he's experienced in sports, ever. So do like he says, and until you come to a game no talky. SVP on Tiger Stadium

There is zero other explanation for us (and Bama) to deny the home series

Good thing I was speaking solely in terms of the whole experience of a college town, from the recreation, amenities/nightlife to athletics.

If I wanted to single out a single aspect (i.e. stadium atmosphere), I would not disagree with you.

teams balk at coming here.

I think its already been explained, that teams lose money on home and home's. Big name schools are probably not very interested in coming to BR, and not making any money- just as LSU wasnt interested in going to Camp Randall and losing money. Apparently Wisky is saying that they were interested, but LSU is not going to go to Madison without trying to make a little $ off the deal. And why should they? When like someone else said, you can schedule a quality OOC game for a neutral site- and make as much $$ as you possibly can.

Lambeau will be more of a home game for Wisconsin than Houston or LSU. So I think Wisconsin has the advantage there. LSU should have pushed for a game in Chicago but then again Chicago is only two hours from Madison and 1.5 hours from Milwaukee depending on traffic and Chicago is a huge Big Ten town with lots of Wisconsin alum.

I would have preferred a home and home but I think this situation benefits Wisconsin more.

LSU should have asked for a game in Minneapolis which is four hours from Madison and six from Milwaukee the new Vikings stadium will be ready in 2016 and they'd be playing in the Gopher's home city.

Yeah, I agree that a home and home would have been good. But under the circumstances- we wanted/needed a game for Houston, so if we had scheduled the second game at Madison, LSU would have been on the losing end of the $ situation. Wisky will make a share of the tv money on the game in Houston, and LSU would not on a game at Madison. So I get completely why it was done this way- and for the Wisky AD to now be bitching about it, is a Class A Prick move.

Wisconsin would have a large contingent of fans at both locations.

Chicago has the largest contingent of UW alumni in the country. It's only about 140 miles from Madison. Though I do not know it as a fact, I would hypothesize that Milwaukee might be fourth in terms of UW alumni.

You are right that Chicago is a huge B1G town. You see a lot of Notre Dame and Missouri alumni, too.

Minneapolis likely has the second largest contingent of UW alumni. There is a huge base there as many undergraduates previously came from the Minneapolis area. Would almost look like a home game, too.
