This, there is no replacement for in-game experience. Only recent-ish QB I can think of that did well coming right of the bench as a backup is Kurt Warner. He did at least have some experience in the Arena League prior to that, which may have helped.

He was named the successor in camp before the season started right? I am just thinking of coming right of the bench in an emergency and proving they are as good or better than their predecessor. But yeah, I would think Rodgers would count. I know he didn't learn anything from Favre while he was there too. From what I've heard from Chase Daniels when he was here, Brees was at least a good mentor while Chase was here.
