True. It's a pain in the arse to get gas, go to the grocery, or go out to eat. Lakeview is closer to I-10 as well and you can get to Metairie, Mid City, Downtown, or Uptown fairly quickly.

City services provided don't warrant an investment of 500K in Lakeview.

It's not gentrification of New Orleans, it's the typical decline caused by an abundance of apartments in an area. Metairie has far too many and they are getting trashier every year. If you look at the crime maps, those clusters of apartments have always been the focus of crime even before gentrification started.

Like I said in another post, I lived in an apartement on the southside of I10 for a coupleof years in thhe mid 90s. Back then there were around the same number of units that are there now. When I lived there there was not much crime and I didn't feel unsafe after dark. In the past 20 years the demograghics of that area did a 180. As someone else mentioned, I guess it is a Section 8 thing.

I live down the street and drove through there at 9pm. They are some lucky mf'ers they didn't stop me for help. Did not see an explorer though
I can say that there are always people pulled over at the house one closer to I-10 from Big Lee's sitting on the road or standing outside of their cars.

Streets in Lakeview suck so bad. Will be nice in a few years when the street fixing work is all done.

The streets are crappy for sure. Plus you have to worry about trucks running into Chateau Cafe .

The average price for a 3300 sq ft for OM is well north of that. Try closer to 750-900 for something nice.

Some parts of OM flood real bad too

Before I post something on this board I generally ask myself if I really know enough about the subject to warrant posting my thoughts. A lot of the info posted in this particular thread is proof that not many people follow the same train of thought.

Was not the only Saturday night mayhem in the New Orleans area.
