The whole dinner and a movie thing hasn't really taken off here like it has in Texas. Canal Place is the only option I currently know of. They are building a Movie Tavern in Covington, but I don't think it's open yet, and you don't want to drive to Covington for a movie.
We used to go to Alamo Drafthouse all the time in Houston and loved it.

quote:I'm a huge movie buff. They also have a local market selection of 22 bombers. I'm not saying I'm gonna spend all my time there, but I may check out a movie. Also they have a full bar.
Then don't go to the movies brah

Canal Place
ok joint, but be wary. They include tip on your bill, and our waiter did not tell us this. He brought the bill to us in the dark, so we didn't notice it. After we left I kept telling the wife that the bill seemed high, so we called them up to check the prices and found out about this. Moral of the story? Dude made out with 50% tip.
The movie experience itself was meh, but the food was decent. Screens are just ok and the sound left a lot to be desired. I probably won't go back again, and I frequented the ones in Houston when I lived there.
But seriously, if you are visiting New Orleans, you're doing it all wrong if you spend any of your time and money at a Movie Tavern style theater.

Hit up the midnight showings at Prytania where it's BYOB. Then bar hop back down Magazine afterwards.
This is a much better suggestion. Classic place that screams New Orleans
