um... southwest is far and away the best airline from a customer service standpoint. I try to fly them exclusively.
That's what I was thinking. That was the first and only time I've ever heard anyone complain about Southwest customer service.

I'd love to hear the full story. And what you asked for in compensation that they told you no.
This was a bigger issue back in 2010 when if a flight was sub 50% seat factor they would cancel (almost exclusively regionals) and move everyone to the next flight.
It was rather rare occurrence as both the return leg and the next flight all had to be sub 50%.
Today seat factors in excess of 70% would never allow that.

Southwest is awesome. If points aren't a concern (Delta) I'd choose them exclusively.
The only bad thing is that if you're used to rules, Southwest doesn't have them. So you're at the mercy of people you fly with. I can see it becoming an issue in Atlanta, but my trips on Southwest have been 100% positive.

Should I tweet delta?
My regional flights are always booked to the max

For those without another option tweeting the airlines will get you a response.
If you need rebooking or assistance and you don't have credibility through whatever the airline rewards program is, I've seen it work well

One time at ATL, about 4pm we were cued up and they had to switch from east flow to west flow. Possibly the most miserable time for ground controllers, ever.

I've never had to deal with the switch on the ground but done it in the air twice. Both times switching from west arrival to east when we were coming from the northeast and already on the west side of ATL.

Still not as bad as flying into ORD. Last three times I have arrived we 1) got 20 minutes worth of delay vectors over northern Michigan (DTW-ORD), sat in the penalty box after landing because of ramp congestion (about 30 minutes) and got put into a circle over Wisconsin because of congestion.
Thankfully ORD was my terminus each time but if I was connecting I would have been screwed, oh and UA just announced on their earnings call that they are re-banking ORD in the Spring for better directional flows and shorter connection times.

Yes. Without a doubt.
Boarding a Southwest plane is like herding cats into a dog kennel.
I agree that the boarding is weak, but I don't know about the poor service part otherwise. Admittedly, I haven't flown SW in a few years, but when I lived in L.A. and S.F., I'd go back to NOLA all the time on SW and they rocked. And the fact that they don't charge for bags or changing your flight still makes me think their service is good.

I'm not sure if Southwest is the worst of all the major airlines or if it's United.
There can only be one true POS and it's United. Weren't they the first airline to start charging for bags? I just flew them to Europe and it was a disaster both ways. They gave out forms to the whole plane to fill out online to complain on 2 of the segments. Pathetic airline that nickel and dimes people for everything while barely providing service.

but they have quickly fallen in line with all the rest of majors.
Yet they still don't charge you a fee for your bag and, most importantly to me when traveling, you can simply go online and change your flight for FREE. Imagine that novel concept. If the flight you're changing to is more expensive, you just pay the difference in fare. United, Delta, and AA are making billions of dollars on those bullshite extortion fees alone. frick them all. But especially United. frick United

Employee could have handled it better, the passenger is a little bitch. The airlines bend over backwards to kiss people's asses, even when they're wrong, and it promotes worse and worse behavior by the passengers. Fact is,getting on an airliner is not like going to a restaurant, there's a completely different set of rules, and the customer is not always right.

I've been using southwest alot lately.. I actually moved my flight up today and couldn't believe when I was actually refunded money. I will say though I'm not a big fan of the find your seat arrangement.

Currently in the air to SLC flying Delta. Only people who fly every week should have loyalties otherwise it truly doesn't matter because you aren't valuable enough as a customer for them to treat you any differently. I might be a bit harsh in saying that, but business travel is where they make margins and person travel is just to break even and fill seats. I'm ok paying $800/ticket because I have to be somewhere by a certain time and date...and I'm flying somewhere every week rather than the average consumer who wants a $200/ticket and flies 3 times a year.
I wish the average person realized just how much all of those "Sky Priority" people have to fly to earn those early boarding times and first class upgrades.
I'm on my way to Diamond this year...I've flown close to a 100,000 miles so far. Delta is the best, IMO, and American is miserable.
Southwest is awesome for the regular traveler but it is not very good for rewarding business travelers since it does not have a first class.
