My great great aunt wrote Gone With the Wind, if that counts. She doesn't come to family parties though.

Sam Houston. But he's dead now.

My cousin is a big TV personality overseas, on a major network and the big daily morning show. Big enough to have to wear sunglasses and a cap to go shopping. Gets great reservations at all the restaurants, etc.
It's fun going back to visit.

Nope. My gene pool is steeped in mediocrity.

John Wilkes Booth.

I have a second cousin that got interviewed on Colbert. Author who contributes to the New York Times and had a pretty decent selling book.
That's about the best I can do. I don't have a super common last name and some famous people do share it, but I don't know if theres a way to see if we're distant relatives.

Only famous guy I'm related to is dead now, and he was pretty damn famous in the 30's-40's but not these days.
Gus Kahn is a Great Grandfather on my mom's side. He wrote the song "It had to be you" which was made famous by Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett.. More recently Harry Connick Jr likes to sing it also.
He had several other hits he wrote for other singers and was a popular name in showbiz back in that era in Chicago.
