Rocky's greatest foe?

Clubber Lang.
Ivan Drago is the easy answer but if we really look at it, Rocky was older when he fought Drago. The emotions of the Cold War lead us to connect more with that fight but Lang was a monster. Drago never beat Rocky. Clubber destroyed Rocky physically and almost broke him mentally.
Now in Drago's defense, while he didn't win, he most certainly did a crap ton of damage as Rocky couldn't even talk in Rocky 5.
Tommy Gunn is clearly out of the question. And Apollo had some weird gay emotions connected to Rocky.

Adrian is the correct answer, but Clubber is a close second.

These threads always remind me that Clubber Lang is by far the most overrated fighter in the Rocky universe.
Clubber was the worst climactic opponent Rocky fought. He only beat Rocky in the first fight when he was completely fricked in the head after what happened to Mickey. And something happened to him before that fight--worst thing that could happen to any fighter--he got civilized.
Rocky steamrolled Clubber in 3 rounds. Every other climactic fight Rocky had went into the 15th round. Clubber took all day winding up his punches as he'd bring both his hands down to his waist before throwing wild looping shots. Apollo in his prime or Drago would've caved his face in. Hell, even Mason "The Line" Dixon was a superior fighter to Lang.
The answer is Spider Rico. The only one Rocky could never put away over the course of 6--errr--5 movies.

This. Clubber was dying after 2 rds of the 2nd fight. If Rocky wasn't dicked in the head he destroys him in the 1st fight.

Rocky was secretly in love with Paulie from the beginning. Adrian was just a surrogate.
Oh, and Drago was his most intimidating foe. I never found Clubber to be that intimidating. I think he was supposed to be based on Mike Tyson but for some reason Mr. T just didn't come across as that scary an opponent to me.

Nah Tyson was 15 when Rocky 3 came out.

Tyson himself was basically a modern version of Liston.

Obviously Thunderlips but if we are just talking boxers than it is Clubber Lang and it isn't even close.

Drago killed Apollo. Frickin put him in the grave. Then gave Rocky brain damage. Lang was about Rocky getting over fear and adapting. Drago was about surviving a monster who could literally kill him.

Well of course not. No one on tigerdroppings would be afraid of a young Mr T. We're all very badass here.
