I think you could plug just about anybody (within reason that is) into LSU and they would be good. They have the money, resources, a talented state to pool from in the south, and bagmen that work their arse off. Les Miles is lucky to have that job and he knows it. He ain't going anywhere bc he knows that machine of LSU is self perpetuting with or without his arse

I like the bagmen comment.

The same could have been said for Miami 15 years ago.

Especially coming from Miami. Next to Alabama, probably the dirtiest football program in the last 50+ years.

Well, if there is any part of the country that can make a 'bagman' claim against us, it's south Florida.

Those guys are really pissed about the possible Champagnat pipeline. But honestly LSU fans say the exact same stuff about a couple of other schools that are in the SEC.

They must not be old enough to remember many of our seasons in the 90's.

I like to think our skull-fricking of them in that Peach Bowl started their descent to irrelevance.

They are pissed because we are constantly getting top talent from them in that area.

Just got the #3 DT in the country from them.

I don't agree with it, but most former players I have met or talked to that played against LSU say the same thing.

Thats not far from the truth. Before the TAF came along & began using LSU's resources to its advantage, it would take a special coach to make LSU a national power. Now days things are different. LSU now has great facilities & hires great coaching staffs. For the most part, the captain of the ship just needs to enjoy the ride.

There is a reason LSU has to have the highest paid assistant coaches in the nation.

Texas is a better program than LSU--more money, exposure, facilities and a bigger recruiting base yet Mack Brown still found a way to average only 8 wins a season over his last 4 years. Ron Zook took over Spurrier's power house and tried his damnedest to ruin it. Notre Dame became irrelevant as soon as Bob Davie was hired. And currently Will Muschamp is sharting in his pants after inheriting a program that won 2 titles in the five years before he became head coach.

Bottom line is that coaching matters. I'm no Miles apologist, but even after taking over Saban's program ten seasons ago, it's impressive that even with a 5-7 season in 2014, he will have averaged ten wins a year for a decade.

Miami has a board? That's surprising because they can't fill their own place up unless they're on a 5-year winning streak. Their fans are like Raiders fans, but not as classy.

That Peach Bowl beat down of Miami was one of the most satisfying wins I've experienced.
