A lot of people have them.
A lot of people pawn them
A lot of people never get them back.

Because trashy poor people buy nice guitars. Then they cant pay rent so they have to pawn guitar. Thats pretty much it.

Most people think they will be the next great guitarist.
2 years into owning one, they realize that they will always suck, and pawn it.

All the above and some people buy a nice guitar as motivation to learn and then give up.

This is true. I've been playing for 35 years and still suck (can't play much anymore with my bad back). I just never gave it up even though I suck. And I still keep buying guitars.I have 8, including a '65 Gibson flat top, a near pefect '81 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, and a Jackson Rhandy Rhoads V. But the correct answer is just that - everyone wants to be a rock star, but most suck and give up.

Who are also those most likely to snub veteran musicians for buying budget lines, Alex.

People buy guitars, realize they can't play, and then pawn them. They don't want to take the effort to find a good buyer, they just want to get what they can and move on.

You ever try to pawn your organ?
Almost errything shows up at a pawn shop. Not all of it can or will be pawned. Guns, tools, fishing equipment, musical instruments are the biggest items by volume. The owners of some shops are partial to and learned about certain types of items, that's why there are shops that specialize more so than others in jewelry or musical instruments or whatever. The internet has made a pawnbroker's life easier with immediate information and values at their fingertips.

Same reason the gym business booms after the new year. People wast to learn how to play but quit and sell them.
