I think that was more of a shoutout than something that means he'll be in it
By the time they need to show the joker, fox will probably cancel it![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Last week, Bleeding Cool published their take on the Gotham pilot episode, along with screenshots. One of those image was of a young comedian (played by Jon Beavers) doing a set at Fish Mooney’s nightclub, who they guessed to be The Joker. In a follow-up article, they revealed that the comedian is telling a joke that most of us has probably heard, but luckily Mooney hasn’t and cracks up. This comedian is also very expressive, and combined with Joker’s past as a failed comedian in Batman: The Killing Joke, this guy seems like a good fit for the future cackling villain.
However, this may not be the case. According a new Bleeding Cool article, the Gotham crew is playing with the audience. Throughout the first season, each episode will “introduce a character that might be a future Joker, each emphasising aspects of the character’s iconography, a card sharp, a flower seller, a clown, or just a guy with a very big grin.”

I'm really looking forward to this show. Hopefully Fox lets it get a good run.

Fox will probably cancel way too quickly sadly

but i think thats the right approach to the joker at this stage. i would shy away from him for a while and let the show grow.

Ok, I'm missing it. Where is the nod to the Joker in the teaser? The "Welcome Home" written in red on the newspaper?

I didn't see a Joker reference in that one either. What am I missing?

There is none, that's the point. The Joker won't be until season two, at the very least.

When does this show start?

September 22 is what the teaser said.

Fox fall premiere dates revealed: 'Gotham,' 'Sleepy Hollow,' more

One interesting scheduling tidbit: Launching Gotham on Sept. 22 means Fox isn’t blinking from putting its most-anticipated new drama right up against CBS’ top-rated Big Bang Theory on Mondays at 8 p.m.—that’s the same launch date as the Big Bang eighth-season premiere.

The OP's thread title was confusing. It made it sound like there was a hint for the Joker.

I wonder if they would have him be the Red Hood, since he didn't become the Joker until he fell into a chemical vat while being chased by Batman.

For some reason the OP saw The Joker in that trailer. I think it's more of a teaser as to which villain is responsible for the murder out of The Penguin, Catwoman, The Ridler, or any of the other villains seen.
