How is it maybe?
Jennings got paid $1 million from the team and signed an endorsement deal worth another million.
$2 million for one year of shitty euro ball before going to the NBA sounds like a nice deal.
Guys are regularly paid months or year late or not at all. It's a completely different legal and work environment.

Jennings signed with one of the most reliable teams in Europe. He wasn't paid on time once.

From what was posted, it's not about grades at all. It's rumored to be an amateurism issue, meaning someone paid him.
That wouldn't be surprising from either side, Prime Prep or SMU.
Hell, SMU got away with bribing a teacher to change Keith Frazier's (top recruit at SMU now) grade in high school so he could graduate

pretty stupid of him
Get paid to play basketball and live in Europe for one year? Sounds like an awesome experience, IMO.

Taking a step back and looking at the situation, it doesn't work out all that bad. EM doesn't have to sit at a year, Larry Brown is still coaching SMU so they'll be fine, and Tyus Jones is now the undisputed best PG from the class.

What you did there, I see it

SMU should still be good next year, but that was a HUGE loss for them. I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if they would have been a one seed in the tourney. I don't think Jennings enjoyed Europe from what I read and Jeremy Tyler has definitely struggled post-high school. Everyone I've talked to at SMU believes it's related to Prime Prep and NCAA violations. Wish the best for the kid though because he looks like he could be a great player.

This is something that the NCAA should fear. I have the feeling that more and more players, regardless of right or wrong, are going to start doing this to get a quick paycheck.
I said the same thing last year and no one really saw it being a problem in the future. But I'm with you.
agreed and agreed.
College is a complete farce for the elite basketball players that only go to a school because they have to. Kentucky's program is a joke and really an embarrassment to all college sports. UNC spit in the face of our entire society for the sake of a tiny percent of their student body.
If I had the skills and talent to be a top pick and only cared about basketball then I'd spend a year or two in Europe, get a good payday and play more ball and not have to dick with class.
I think we'll see more kids doing this when the 1 and done rule becomes 2. It really should be the way the NFL does it even though NFL players haven't shown that 3 years in school helps them make any better financial decisions.

Prime Prep got shutdown btw

those cities might be nicer but his experience as an 18 year old will not be. College at that age would definitely be more enjoyable.
how in the world can you make a claim like that?

Yes. Especially if they go ahead with the 2 year college rule.

Not so sure. The move didn't really do much for Brandon Jennings. He's a solid pro though so I guess it didn't hurt anything.
