Took a couple of nice watches and a headset valued at a cool $1,000. Also my logbook which is valueless to him yet irreplaceable to me.
Left the golf clubs and credit cards.
Should I even file and police report?

Why would you EVER leave all of this shite in your car?

Did they break the window to get in? If you're making an insurance claim, the ins. co. will probably want a police report.
But no, the police will probably not catch the thief and you won't get your stuff back.

Definitely file a police report, but you probably won't get your stuff back. If you don't file you really have little chance of getting your things back. It'll help for insurance purposes also. Been there, sucks bro

This. You need to get a police report filed if you are going to the insurance company. Other than that those worthless fricking pigs won't get shite done for you.
When my car got broken into they didn't even have the fricking courtesy to come out. they took the report over the phone and called it a day. I'm pretty sure that they filed it in a drawer and never even looked at it. fricking worthless "public servants".

ETA: your best bet is to start scouring the pawn shops.

Leads? Sure, I'll just check with the boys down at the station. They've got 4 more detectives working on it. They've got us working in shifts! Leads!!

victory drive pawn shops. Yes report to police so you can recover the stolen items when you find them. Also if you are using the log book to guard against an audit, the police report will come in handy.

Doubtful.
The only thing that may come out of a police report is the lost property being found at a pawn shop or something.
It is more likely that the cops will simply take a statement and never look into it again. There is nothing in it for them.
