Akpom will sign new #AFC contract in next couple of hours - 4.5yr deal to summer 2019. Was strong interest in 19yo striker from PL & abroad

Good to see. Really liked what I saw from him against Villa, deserved a goal.
eta: Think he gets loaned out next season?

Probably so.
James McNicholas was on B/R this morning saying he's not sure Theo gets re-signed and could leave this summer. I think he's just speculating, but it's an interesting thought.
He also compared Theo to Podolski on Arsecast Extra, as in, a prolific player whose inability to contribute in other facets may spell his doom at Arsenal.
I think Theo's runs are electric and we need to keep him if possible. I wonder what he wage demands will be.

I think there is zero chance we don't keep Theo, but I guess weirder things have happened.

Theo could be very difficult to keep as far as wage demands go. When he signed his extension a few years ago, the circumstances at the club were very different than they are now. At that point, the club had to do everything they could to stop the star player exodus, so they made him one of the highest paid players at the club at that time.
This contract is completely different as he is not one of the best players on the team anymore. It could be argued that he isn't even a starter if everyone on the team is healthy.
He is also in direct competition with the Ox, Gnabry and even Welbeck to an extent as far as wings with similar skill sets. While Theo is probably the best finisher of that group and might make the most dangerous runs, he is behind at least one if not all of them in defensive contribution, passing, positioning, etc. Therefore, the club will have to make a decision as far as who they want to keep, as keeping theo may block the Ox, Gnabry and/or Welbeck. If he doesn't block them and he gets blocked by one or all of them, then we have another disgruntled player who will want more play time than he is afforded.
I really enjoy watching Theo play, and I think he brings an explosiveness to the team that just isn't there when he's out of the lineup, but I would only take him at the right wage. I'm certainly not paying him a ton of money to stay, and I doubt the club would, either. He's no longer a player that the club MUST keep. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets sold in the summer.

You could probably include Alexis in this mix as well as long as Wenger wants to keep putting Ozil out wide on the left

Theo has been one of my favorite players at Arsenal, so I hope we are able to come to an agreement. That pace is just insane. Plus, I'd rather not see another former Gunner playing for Chelsea or City.

I'm not sure positioning matters with Ozil. He was in the almost exact center of the pitch when he made that RIDICULOUS assist to Giroud..
This is beautiful....

Theo's runs are the best of the bunch. His bending run to create the game's first chance (with a beautiful delivery from Ramsey) was something no one else on our team does. Same for his goal.
He's also the worst of the bunch with the ball at his feet, though he's not terrible there.
I think we work hard to keep him. I just hope we can make it work.

For sure. I was just saying if you want to have Ozil and Santi in the starting 11 then that means Alexis probably gets the start on the right.
I'm enjoying the team actually having some depth all of a sudden.

Campbell, Poldi and Yaya sent out on loan. Crazy the amount of quality attacking options we have right now. Not complaining.

I'm not denying that is it, but it seems weird that Giroud did a similar motion after scoring on City.
