That's damage from the Typhoon that hit the Pacific fleet in either late 44 or early 45. Can't remember the exact date.

I give them all an honest shot, but then I google search them. All of these have been really interesting. Keep this thread rolling.

Impressive. Typhoon Cobra - December 1944
Bonus: Which ship is this from?
Interesting tidbit, my grandfather was on this ship during the typhoon.

No, he just happen to use a picture I remember seeing. I cannot remember something I'm told for more than a couple minutes. But if i read it or see a picture, I've got almost a photographic memory. I'm hell at things like Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit.

Now that's a tough one considering how many carriers we had at that time. I really have no idea.

Yeah. I would be shocked if anyone could get that. Those pics are from the USS Altamaha

I love these threads.

I definitely didn't. Had a ton of those escort carriers, and honestly I wouldn't have thought of one. That typhoon wreaked hell on Task Force 38 in '44...

Yeah, I'd have never guessed that. I was actually thinking it was maybe an Independence class carrier but I was not about to guess which one.
OK... Let's try this one....
What army are these guys in?
Bonus: What outfit?
