I didn't know the OT had so many traffic engineers.

I agree that the intersection needed improvement. But what it needed was a left turn lane in both directions with a designated green arrow light.
This was the basis of my first argumentative essay in English 1002 in the Fall of 2002. Happy to see such a quick response to an easily alleviated problem.

There are NO civil engineers on this board

OMG god forbid people have to use their judgment to decide if they can drive through an intersection safely

what the f**k are they thinking
Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if BR doesn't have the second string of traffic engineers. Their answer generally seems to be to prohibit doing the very thing people need to do (turn left in this case) and/or spread the traffic all around (Parker Ave).

Thank you for this.

I haven't been to BR in close to 8 months...since graduating I only go up there in the fall. Did they ever put a new store where the Qdoba was on Burbank? I miss that place
It's now Breck's Bistro. I've heard good things, but I've never eaten there.

BR drivers are among the dumbest in the U.S. New Orleans area is much worse overall, but I'm not sure if they're quite as stupid.

Basically you'll have the flow of land hand turners stacking up all the way down Jennifer Jean now.
This is the goal. The number of drivers coming from Highland down Boyd to Burbank dwarfs that of those coming from the Jennifer Jean semicircle to Burbank. It is much easier to take left turns onto Burbank from Jennifer Jean than from Boyd. This change basically forces drivers to use the more efficient and safer intersection.
I think the initial reaction here is a little overkill. It may eventually prove to be a failure but it also could end up working better. There were a lot of crashes at the Boyd intersection. Something needed to be done and there is no room for widening there for a turn lane.
Now as for the people used to coming down Boyd from Highland? They'll need to get used to using West Parker and the highly underused Nicholson extension.

no shot.... out of all the places i've ever driven, Baton Rouge tops them all....
i mean, we get massive amounts of rainfall every year, yet as soon as the first fricking drop hits the windshields here, drivers on the interstate drop to like 45 MPH... un-fricking-real

West Parker was already backed up almost as bad as Boyd most days. Nicholson Extension is little used for a reason. There's no light or turn signal to make a left onto it from highland. More people coming from campus should make use of it though.

It's got to be okay to go straight... No way they can allow that to not be an option.
if they're getting rid of the light it will definitely be right turn only.

Maybe people need to learn proper driving judgment. But I guess when you have a bunch of 20 year old tards driving their dad's Tahoe, then accidents are inevitable.

the sad part of all of this is, i work literally right down the street from all of this and i still don't have a fricking clue about where any of these streets are....
i know burbank, because i drive down it to get to Lee everyday, but that's about it....

True.

Idk. I have pretty much made this my go to route when I see Boyd and Parker look like a parking lot. There's a yield sign but I never have to wait long to get through.
