Early thoughts on LSU vs Wisconsin

All I know about Wisky is...
Offense..they will return a ton of good backs, probably have an above average offensive line, and lost most of their WR corp to graduation.
Defense..The front seven was decimated by attrition and the secondary returns some experienced guys who don't seem to have been all that good last year.
Fairly certain both teams will load the box to stop the run so whoever can exploit that better will have a definite advantage.
One huge advantage LSU should have is pure team speed. Wisconsin seems to be one of those plodding BigTen teams.
Thoughts?

Game will be decided by what LSU does on third down.

Can lsu generate a pass rush ?
Can lsu be balanced offensively ?
If yes, it's a two touchdown game in LSU's favor. I am banking on a low scoring affair.

All in with Buga seeing maybe more carries than some may think.
Why wait?

I'm probs in the minority with this prediction, but I see a blowout. I'm talking 38-3, at least one defensive TD, multiple sacks and 300 yards on the ground. I see it going like the Oregon game in '11, slow but productive 1st half then outright obliteration in the 2nd half.

Can't wait for all of the "gonna be closer than we thinks" and all of the "we shouldn't take them lightly". Blah blah
We will come out with something to prove and handle. Business.

LSU doesn't have an experienced QB/receiving corp. It's going to be a long tough game. I'd love to think otherwise but all Wisconsin has to do is load the box. This will be a Les Miles classic 3 yards and a cloud of dust game.

Why? Did coach Cam take another job?

Great question! I'd love to know the answer. So how many offensively explosive games have you seen since cam was here?
Cam would be one hell of a coach if he could turn an inexperienced QB/ receivers into shape for a wide open well functioning offensive unit over the summer.

Based on pretty much all of our games last year, I wouldn't be pounding my chest claiming we are going to blow anyone out.

Wow. Wisky is no pushover. Their O-line is a top unit in the country. LSU is a young team at key positions. esp QB and WR. 1st game of the year. No way I see a blowout unless Wisky turns the ball of a ton and gives LSU a short field most of the day. I see like 23-14 or 23-17 kind of game. LSU has the better athletes with more depth and team speed. This team will take a few games to jell. Then it could be lights out.

quote:Wisconsin is a perennial power in the Big 10. Not to say they would necessarily have the horses to run with LSU, but could be very tough. And if LSU isn't ready yet with new QB and receivers, it could become a grinding ground game. I think our OL and DL will give them all they can handle, but I don't think this will be an LSU blowout without our key talent positions clicking on all cylinders.
Thoughts?

Our athletes will be better than their athletes. That's what it comes down to. 1 on 1 matchups, manpower vs. manpower. And we'll win that everytime. Think about how we prepared for Oregon in 2011. Our athletes will be able to prepare for Wisconsin that way. We have the best coaching staff in the country with the best strength coach and facilities combo. Our offense will be explosive on the ground and will be good enough to keep the defense honest through the air. Defense is always extremely fast and our linebacking corps will get the job done against a good Wisky O-line. It'll be a hard nosed game but expect LSU to pull away in the end.

LSU by 21. Wisconsin just doesn't have the talent and coaching that LSU has. Les Miles also coaches great games against good teams in opening games. (See Oregon and NC)

I said handle business. However , thanks for showing up and showing concern. Based on last year we did blow people out.

I live up in wi and can tell you there are questions about who will be their qb. The guy who started last year was an average passer with no mobility. They also have a big, athletic kid who can't throw. But he was a good enough athlete to get snaps at safety last year. Anderson always fielded good rushing, good defensive teams when he coached at Utah state so he should have their defense ready to defend the run. I remember he took a Utah state into Auburn a few years back and gave a heck of a game.
