YEC is a subset of ID. You can believe in ID without being a YEC, but you cannot be a YEC apart from ID.
Not exactly how I would put it. Both are subsets of Creationism writ large, as is Francis Collins' Theistic Evolution (he calls it BiosLogos).
But YEC and ID are incompatible with each other once you get past the "First, there was God" part.

It's a problem. I'm not willing to just believe that parents should make all of the decisions regarding their children.
How many kids do you have?

This sounds good in principle, but would be a complete disaster in reality. Without objective state/government standards, the education system would fall apart.
That doesn't mean I think the current public system is in anyway adequate.
maybe it would but why can't school boards take care of that? Each civil parish/county has a school board who makes decisions for each school in that area. Why does the state or even federal government have to make standards when school boards can easily do it. Maybe leaving it up to each school is to much but having the State determine everything is also to much.

We were taught evolution in Catholic schools.
I don't know how many schools use this but this is always a good textbook for the relationship between science and faith.

I've heard this guy give a couple talks he is very smart and fully believes in evolution.
note: I think the JPII academy uses this in Lafayette

Yep, and I've filled em'. ID is rock solid. But ONLY for them who so choose.
There is a point wherein subjective preference colors the Objective. Per Quantum Theory. Personal observation...determines/affects the Empirical evidence/Reality.
Believe what you will, RK, and create the Reality in which you then exist. The *evidence* (colored by your personal inclination/bias will be indisputable, for you), but it's both naïve, arrogant and factually incorrect to assume that YOUR subjective version of Reality is the Absolute.
Everything should be on the table. No censorship. Let the folk decide. Some will comprehend E=MC2...some won't. Some will enjoy Love, Beauty and the assurance of Spiritual Truth. Many won't.
Infinite Parallel Universes. "Many mansions" (Biblical). Reap what you sew. Perfect justice; can't blame God for your choice.
I'm reading "The Transhumanist Wager", Rog. There's your ticket to immortality. The Singularity...becons.
This is complete gibberish

Because the school board in Bumfrickville, Alabama is unlikely to provide adequate education standards if left to their own personal educational priorities.

And its sister city in CA will do the same thing, just in the opposite direction.
Maybe you should address both sides with your demeaning remarks.

If education standards were left solely to the individual school boards, a child would be far more likely to get a proper education from a purely fact/knowledge base (especially in the sciences and language arts) in northern California than the rural south.
This is already true anyway, but would only be amplified in this scenario.

Nice. That prejudice is coming through.
Tolerance. Elitist style.

And you don't see as to why people in Alabama might not want to be like No. Calif.? It sounds as if you think all people should be the same.

I don't tolerate the mindset that its ok to just teach kids any old thing in school, no. If that makes me an elitist then so be it.
Our public schools already have a long arse list of problems, and I have no desire to worsen the problem by allowing local school boards to individually dictate their curriculum and standards.

Who said anything about being like them?
In this scenario, many school districts in certain parts of the country would actively be teaching false or inadequate information in multiple subjects. You act as if teaching a child correct information about something like evolution is a liberal plot to make them vote democrat one day, which is nonsense.

lol, arent there young earth creationists among the idiots on here?

1 or 2 YEC are on here.
I resent the fact that you refer to us all as idiots. Just so you know, I'm mentally punching you right now.

So, who is this group of individuals that should dictate? Apparently a federal government answer?

There are only a few YEC that I'm aware of, but quite a few deny what they ignorantly refer to as "macroevolution".

What is your definition of correct information. You think that they teach 2+2=5 in Ala.?
