All kidding aside, I did feel guilty from time to time. My solution was to drink and chase women until the guilt dissipated.
I was invariably successful.

good strategy, there was a training reserve unit where I used to work, VTU, we called them the vegetable training unit, must have been some sort of hush hush outfit, we never new what they did, but there were some serious partiers among them

I still can't talk about everything I did. Not bragging, because we rarely went into harm's way, but I'm proud to say we made a difference.

We went last week. As others have said, $2to park and see most of the outside exhibits. Watch for fire ants, they are everywhere. We skipped actually going on board. My kids, 8, 5, 4 decided they wanted to get to the Track and ride some go-carts. I think in a year or 2 we will make the whole tour.

I went one summer in the late 80s with a childhood friend and his grandfather when I was 12. Great childhood memories from that trip. My friend's grandparents lived in Fairhope just behind the small church on the main road south of the Fairhope Pier (heading towards Point Clear). We rode our BMX bikes all over downtown Fairhope, caught bait in the Bay (shrimp, pinfish, croackers, crabs, etc) at night with a sane net, and went down to Fort Morgan where his dad fished for sharks on the Bay side while we caught blue crab in a lagoon behind the Fort. I miss those days and this thread about visiting the Battle Ship just gave me a flashback.

Obviously the Spad is one of the two, what was the other one?

You'll melt, but it's definitely worth seeing.

Is there a fee to park? Are there additional fees to just walk around the grounds and take pictures?

damn, you're older than I thought, what was it like having Robin Olds as your T-bird instructor?

Kids loved climbing on every thing. We went during the school year on a Friday... Saw maybe 20 different people the whole time, had it to ourselves.
