The modelers' attempt at a "counter-intuitive" argument seems to indicate that they are trying to have it both ways. If Antarctic sea ice continues to grow, it's due to global warming. If it diminishes, they'll quickly forget their "counter-intuitive" argument and say that any net melting which is occurring is due to warming.

NO amount of clear, objective evidence to contradict AGW will cease the endless campaign of the Statists to establish more Government Power for the purpose of combating AGW.
The AGW Movement's real purpose is to redistribute wealth to poorer nations and to take the US standard of living down a peg or two.

Hank Paulson, whose claim to fame in the public sector is panicking and browbeating the nation and its Washington politicians into accepting the Troubled Asset Relief Program in late September 2008, and who just two weeks later "put a (figurative) gun to the heads" of large-bank CEOs to "persuade" them to accept federal "investment" in their enterprises, has re-emerged to tell us, according to the Hill, that "Republicans are 'ready for a serious discussion' on climate change."
Hank Paulson is crying global warming wolf here because he works for Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs stands to make boat loads of money off of carbon credits if climate legislation is passed. Goldman Sachs will play casino dealer in the carbon credit market where carbon credits will be bought and sold. Goldman Sachs will get a piece of every transaction. That's why Hank Paulson is crying wolf.
...follow the money.

Is this one of those threads where we act like glaciers and sea ice are the same thing?

Zach-
Sorry to bump this one but I've been wanting to respond to is since my temporary banning.
The OP you link to cites two links which he claims say that Antarctic sea ice is melting
LINK
and
LINK .
Unfortunately, those links refer to the Antarctic ice SHEET - not the sea ice. As you are no doubt aware - there's a pretty big difference.
The premise of the entire OP is thus wrong, as scientists have not been claiming that Antarctic SEA ice is collapsing.
I would encourage you to read this denialist blogs with a little more of a critical eye. This error was easy enough to spot simply by checking the OP's sources.
(btw thanks for your help)

I'd like to see a comparative analysis using statistically reliable data on global warming and its correlation to global give-a-damn.
...including the attitudes of penguins as well.
Some will argue anything if it means they make a buck.
ETA: BTW, I liked the article about Dana Carvey on the same page.

Can we drink this arctic ice you speak of? Is this ice creating enough of a usable water source to meet the growing demand being applied to the already stressed water supply?
