LSU announces that Brian Bridgewater is officially on the Hoops Roster

per SEC Teleconference
NCAA has finally cleared Bridgewater and he is officially on the roster. He has been able to practice with the team all summer and has "fulfilled all his obligations now."
He should be the backup 3 this coming year and get decent minutes.

Is he someone who could make an impact this year or someone who needs to be developed?
I don't know much about him besides that he was highly touted his early years of HS then fell off once he stopped growing.

He's a way better player than Hammink at least.

This. I felt like there was a thread about him daily on here 4-5 years ago.

I would agree with this.
I am not sure how big of a contribution he will have, especially because he hasn't played organized hoops the past year, however, I am hopeful he can come in and surprise the doubters.

If he is backing up the 3, we may be in trouble. Last I heard his conditioning wasn't up to par and well, he couldn't guard the 3 in HS... gonna take a lot to prove he can at this level.
If LSU had needed room, he would be gone. That simple. No reason to mess up APR though if you have room to keep him.

Conditioning is what I'm most worried about. Having the year off doesn't help that. I don't know who else on the roster really backs up at 3 so he may have to play there.
You see anyone else on the roster that could play the 3? I don't unless we go small.

I am a little out of touch, except for the media, but why cut Hickey ,who played, and keep Bridgewater? Anyone?

Hickey continued to break team rules... Bridgewater didn't break any rules but the NCAA did not accept some of his high school credits so they said he didn't have the proper class credits to play. Once he finished his 1st year at LSU they decided he did have the appropriate credits to play college sports.

I think he's gonna end up being a solid contributor off the bench

Tasmin Mitchell stopped growing himself in HS, but he still had the hype throughout his HS career.

What worries me is that his game in HS predicated around him being the biggest, most athletic guy on the court. That won't be the case in college and, at least in high school, his range was limited to a 5-foot radius around the basket and now he is expected to play at the 3?

I didn't really follow his senior year at Scotlandville. Does anyone know if he expanded his game at all? Because this definitely describes his game when he was at EHS, but I imagine he was forced to do some different things at SMHS.

He might as well be the next Carl Landry (undersized PF) if that's the case IMO.

Guys who will factor in at the 3 (before Bridge):
Jarell Martin
Keith Hornsby
Tim Quarterman
It'll be all about matchups.

If he's on campus and getting weights and running conditioning isn't an issue. He has plenty if time, he should have stayed at episcopal, and his body type fits best on the football field. But he'll be a physical body who can play on bigger guards and small forwards. I'm glad he's finally on the mix.
