that is just it though
the people just disappeared...at random, no pattern or anything
there is nothing there to theorize on within the show, thus their frustrations and feelings 3 years later
seems to me that chick that her entire family disappeared is going around taking a survey of all the families to try and find a pattern, so some people are looking

I sense that the reason for the rapture will never be explained. The show will frick with us and focus on the other dynamics.

which is fine IMO, it's not important

the irony has not gone unnoticed by me, but they're going to ditch that really soon. This show is about relationships, drama, love, etc...
I get what the show is about, I understand the intentions, I would watch it had I not felt duped by HBO's promos and advertising. I think the male lead is such a good actor, I think the dialogue is good, the emotions are strong, but that won't carry this show very far...it will get old. Eventually, the story needs to push further. This is basically a high end, sci fi "days of our lives"
pass

I'll quit if/when it comes to that
I'm not going quit based on speculation from Wiki or vague comments from the director

no, I got the subtle hints from e1 and decided I wasn't going any further...read the book synopsis, it is literally just relationship drama
again, if you think this is going anywhere interesting, it's not. The world created by the event will soon become irrelevant to what is happening with the characters

How closely is this expected to track with the book? (which I know nothing about)
Posted on 7/10/14 at 2:13 pm to Salmon
The comments from the director seen vague at all. Look up the article.
I'm not telling you to quit. You enjoy it. I'm telling the people expecting sci fi mystery to quit . They've been duped.

How do you know this? Did they say it will be exactly like the book it is based on?
I'm not saying that you are wrong, I just really dont know.

I struggled to get through the second episode. Played on my phone for most of it because it just wasn't interesting.
I'm going to keep with it though and hope it gets better.
The aggravating thing is a lot of my friends on facebook are friends with the author and I have to see them on my timeline gush about how this show is the next Sopranos.

The director has said so
The author is directly involved
They're hopin to draw the lost crowd and hope they stay
They won't

I gave it two episodes. If in three or four weeks people are buzzing about it, I'll catch up with it.
On demand tv watching has changed how I watch shows anyway.

At this point, I'm just watching because there is nothing else on and it's too easy for bed.

Cast Donna, and make her a vegetable? Poor form.

This show is depressing as shite, yet to have any real entertainment value at all
Posted on 7/13/14 at 9:58 pm to FalseProphet
Actually a decent episode. I think HBO is listening to the feedback and worrying. They ran a promo showing clips for the season ahead after tonight's show. It looks pretty interesting.
I'll keep watching.
I'll keep watching.

So does the preacher remain a main character and go all militia to get his church back or is this the last we hear from him?
Waste of an hour imo…I need black Jesus and I need him yesterday
