Thinking about how thousands of Iraqi soldiers said screw it and surrendered with ISIS attacking them. Lets pretend Louisiana has 1 day notice that ISIS with, we'll say 15000 troops and all the weapons they currently have in Iraq, are about to invade La. We have no outside help and no military, all we have is La citizens and the guns we already have. They came prepared with enough food and ammo to last 2 years. How long would we last fighting them or do you think we could destroy them to their last man?

Ok, have to go to work, TIA

HMLA 775 can take those nerds out by themselves.

The whole state could just stay home and watch it on tv.

Without any outside help from the gov or surrounding states, it would take a while. But the fight would be a losing battle for ISIS. No way they could defeat the people down here on their own turf. Maybe I'm over exaggerating how these people would fair, but its my opinion so.....

How many of these do you think would actually point their guns at another human and pull the trigger?

I would imagine that 90% of people that own guns wouldn't hesitate a second to shoot an ISIS member if they feel threatened.

Hell, those insurgents might not even make it out of Lafourche or Terrebonne parish if they were invading from the gulf.

And most people that would be leaving town with that notice, would not be the ones I would want to be in a dog fight with any way. Many people stayed down here for Katrina and so many other named storms. I can't see them laying down so lightly if someone wanted to take their land from them. Those are the ones ISIS would need to be worried about.

First off, I have no military experience so this scenario is purely based of what I know from the History Channel and movies.

So this is as I see it: We beat them pretty easily, see below for my scenario.

I am assuming an invasion by sea, this will not work very well for them, our eroding coast has given us a built in defense. Basically they would be mired in the miles of marsh and swamp land, we could cut off bridges, leaving them an easy target for a counter strike. They could try to come up one of the rivers but I believe we could effectively cut access up a river pretty easy, scuttling barges and making a blockage. Also with the miles and miles of oil rigs on our coast they wouldn't get much of a surprise, we would see them coming. They would initially cause damage on the fringe, but due to our geography couldn't penetrate very far inland.

Just my two cents, what do you real military guys think?

WOLVERINES!!!!!!!!!

ETA: But in no scenario would I ever see us not getting immediate military support. In fact, they'd never even reach LA shores before getting blasted out of the water IMO.
