Aiigght, Aiigght..............
The brown shrimp, Penaeus aztecus, is a species of grooved, burrowing shrimp, common in Louisiana waters.

Fished Fourchon yesterday.
The water looked pretty good but trout were not there. I was fishing amongst several guide boats. A little after 7:00 2 of them said they were retrailering their boats and going to Leeville.
Fortunately there were big packs of bull reds running along the rocks near bell pass. The reds at least saved the day somewhat and we proceeded to boat several of the brutes and had a bunch break us off. But they gave us something to do and my 11 year old daughter caught her first big bull red.
Also there were lots of sharks and mackerel. But more than anything there seemed to be millions of hard tails not catfish but hard tails that immediately would hit almost anything small that was thrown in the water. The water was extremely salty which maybe the reason for the sharks and lack of specks if the salinity was off.
The other guide that stayed didn't much better than I did and told me they only had 1 speck which is what we had.
I did not find the grass to be that bad and it certainly wasn't so bad that it would prevent fishing.

I hate people sometimes. I fish my arse off and would kill for a 6 lb trout.

Heading down there this weekend also. From other reports and also from my brother who fished this past Saturday, caught a few behind the west side of the island. Caught just as much on VUDU shrimp as they did on live shrimp. The rootbeer and natural color.
Said they just kept jumping points and islands. Said they did good at one spot about halfway of the island even with what looked like a big hanger on the island. Said there was one piling sticking out the water leaning over and had several boats around it. Hopefully I come across it.

Fished friday night around east timbalier and smoked the trout. Had my 25 by 10:00 pm with about half being in the 16-18 inch range. The rest were 13-14 inches, then started messing around with some bull reds. Anyway, the main problem I had was there was very little tidal movement Friday Night or saturday morning (at least where I was)
You boys can have the daytime. I going back out tonight to see whats up. I post tomorrow.

You'd be better off stopping at Coastal
Bait right past the "Grand Isle" sign. Cheaper shrimp and they won't run out.

Went to Elmers the other weekend.
Pic from the morning.
About 20 minutes after sunrise I hooked onto a bull that pulled hard then snapped the line. 20 min later they started boiling on top of the water chasing bait. One swam right into my GFs leg and left a bruise. It was like this for 30 min or so but they wouldn't bite a thing that I had. FWIW I was throwing bait shrimp.
We are getting out the surf about 8 or so and another guy pulls up with his wife and had two big bull reds from that morning in his truck. He said the same thing happened the day before where they were chasing bait.

They were doing this at the rocks at Bell Passe yesterday (just in front of the beach) except that they hit anything that you threw in front of them.

If I had cut mullet they would have been history, but that seemed to be all they wanted. I did try throwing a topwater which would have been but that didn't even entice them.
