Anyone fish or dive on the "Trees" south of Orange Beach, AL?

This is an area in the Gulf that was discovered sometime after Katrina, where a 50,000 year old cypress forest was uncovered and has made an artificial reef south of Mobile Bay. Would like to dive on the site if I can find it...

I saw a documentary about it. Pretty interesting stuff, but I hear they're keeping the location pretty locked up...

That's what I understand too, but I did hear it is 15 miles south of the Orange Beach Condos by the same folks that have done reporting on this find.
Was hoping some fisherman that doesn't mind a scuba diver might give me some coordinates.....

According to a friend that lives down there and has forgotten more about fishing than I'll ever know, there's another set that he has fished.

Needs to get a barge out there and start yanking sinker cypress.

Probably why the coordinates are being kept under wraps 50k year old virgin sinker cypress would be worth $$$$$$. But yeah there has never been global warming..... pretty crazy to think that sea levels have risen close to 100' since then.

Sounds like the tale is already growing

Based on historic sea level depths, Mimi Fearn, head of the Earth Sciences Department at the University of South Alabama, said the forest was likely 10,000 to 12,000 years old. Research conducted for a scientific paper titled “Sea-level history of the Gulf of Mexico since the Last Glacial Maximum“ suggests a slightly broader range of 8,000 to 14,000 years old, due to the confounding influence of sediments from the Mississippi River.

Does sound cool. Personally I would start by looking for email addresses for anyone mentioned in that article or other articles I could find along with the author for additional sources. Never know but they have studied it apparently and someone may share your interest.

Any updates out there?
How about a recommendation on a Mbbile area dive shop?
