Been in that general neighborhood almost my entire life and I've never been. At least I don't remember going.

better tacos than some taco trucks and better than taco bell that's for sure.

how many restaurants in metairie, fast food included, are older than taco tico?
what about within new orleans?

I love Taco Tico, many fond memories over the years. The kennerbrah store ain't going no where!

Is the one in Kenna shuttering as well, or is it just this one?

That Taco Tico has been a favorite of mine since I was about 10 years old. I used to bike my way over there when I wanted a special treat. Those of you dissing it really don't know what you're talking about, especially in the good ole days, before the nutrition labeling started changing all fast food.
It has historically been much better than other Mexican FF places including Taco Bell and Baton Rouge's own Pedro's.
In more recent years, it has been less consistent, but still very good. We've known this location was closing for a couple of months now and the quality has suffered much more since then. On the other hand, the Kenner location just keeps cruising along, good as ever. Sorry to see TT go, for sure.

I remember going to the one in Gretna when I was a kid.

where are the preservationists to preserve this late 1960s suburban-mexican-american architecture?
i really liked those puffy tacos they had. really good and dam just a lot of good options there. im not sure why people dont care or put tt down. 46 years of tacos is a lot of tacos and history. lot of metairie got their first taste of mexican food there. 46 years is a lot older than most restaurants are going to make it. tt was an exception

The hipster transplants here just don't understand that. They come down from their armpit villages move into the 504 and think they are some type of food experts. Is it the best tacos ever ? No but it's the best 39 & 59 cent tacos ever. 4 generations of tigerwises have enjoyed TT. The same can be said about Buds.

I will miss it, esp. the 49 cents tacos on Sundays.
But the one on Williams is staying open.
And that's the one THAT HAS A DRIVE-THRU, unlike this location.

dam right! if they started calling their shells gluten free and said they made in house salsa and described their meat as grass fed from kallet's farm in wisconsin, and instead of white kids serving there were hispanic immigrants taking their orders,
they'd all be saying, "best tacos in america."
