It is also more exposure for the program to play on a night where there are very few other games to compete for TV viewership.
The NFL plays on Thursday. The Nation gives two shits about college

I think a lot of our fans are upset because it looks to them like Alleva caved in to pressure from the SEC to honor A&M's tradition of playing on Thanksgiving. We aren't guaranteed that the game will be played on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving when it's in Baton Rouge. There's still a chance that CBS could force us to play on Friday at 1:00 in the afternoon. If that's true, then what did LSU get out of it, other than national exposure?

Will air opposite the San Francisco/Seattle match up a very high profile game that will blunt a lot of "national exposure".

Thanksgiving day should be for the pros.

6:30 PM CST is suppose to be naptime between Dallas Game and San Fran games! We'll have to depend on Dallas to bore us to sleep to be refreshed for LSU kickoff.

you people and your more exposure argument are so stupid. you do realize that this game is going head to head with the Eagles/Cowboys & Seahawks/49ers don't you? Get out of here with your more exposure bullshite. A better AD would not have agreed so quickly to this.

Sounds like they give a lot of shite then. When I'm interested I say I give a shite about it. If I give two shits that's like being twice as interested.

College fans will watch the LSU/A & M no matter what.Does LSU really need exposure?

No it isn't. The Cowboys game will be over right when the LSU game is starting. It's really going head to head with the 9ers game. The argument about the National Exposure is probably not the best, but I'm not sure what possible problem this creates for LSU. We will NOT play them on Thanksgiving in Baton Rouge. The game is in their stadium, so if there is lost revenue from lack of ticket sales, it doesn't matter to LSU. Would you rather play them on Friday afternoon? Would that make the whole thing better?

How horrible. A nationally televised game on ESPN on Thanksgiving night with the whole country watching because it's the only game on. What a dreadful tradition.

This game will be contending with a big NFL game at the same time:

don't be stupid. the avg nfl game last longer than 3 hours. this is a thanksgiving game so it will probably be 3 1/2. the cowboys/eagles will be early to mid-4th quarter when LSU kicks off.

Is the LSU game going to kick off at exactly 6:30? There are plenty of NFL games that are over in 3 hours - 3 hours and 10 minutes.

Are you gonna stay with the NFL game or switch when LSU game starts? Even if there is no NFL game that night people on the East coast aren't gonna watch the LSU game anyway. Its a regional game on a national network.

The games in Baton Rouge will be on Saturdays (likely Sat. nights), so that's not affected.

LSU wasn't guaranteed that the home games would be moved to Saturday night. I don't know where people got this from. The SEC's contract with CBS could still force us to play on Friday afternoon. The Iron Bowl will be on Saturday, likely in prime time. The Gumps in the SEC home office will make sure of that.

Thank you. If people want to watch the LSU game, they'll turn the channel to ESPN. We'll either compete against one NFL game or multiple college games (If it were saturday night). The people who want to watch the game will watch the game.

Some peoples' lives must really suck to have to constantly find sh*t to bitch about.

Ding Ding Ding. Thank you. LSU will play A&M on the saturday after Thanksgiving when it's a home game, and it'll likely be at night b/c CBS will have the Iron Bowl on @ 2:30.

Since when? I don't remember this game being played during Prime Time any time in recent memory. Usually a 2:30-3:30 game. So now you're just making stuff up so that you can try and make your complaint valid?
